Any experience with charge.com?

    Does anyone has any experience with charge.com credit card processing / terminal? They seem pretty cheap, what about their support and service?

    They used to resell for Cardservice. I am not exactly sure if they still do or not. I could not find any information about Cardservice on their website though anymore. I chosse Cardservice because of their stability and reliabilty.

    Their rates are average.

    Use the attached comparison file to get some good quotes. Then use this rate comparison calculator to compare them all. No bull, just an accurate comparison. That's the way it should be.

    I am operating the business in Thailand. Do I have chance to request to my own merchant account in USA? Do I need to establish the business presence in USA?

    You would need to have a business presence in the US to be able to process through a US based merchant account. Otherwise you will need to get a 3rd party processor, a local bank or an offshore merchant account to accept credit cards.

    I have heard about Valis International, Jestep, What do you think about this company? They offers establishing the US Business Presence (Registered at Delaware), offer opening the US Checking Account and also handle for open merchant account.

    Because of the Patriot Act, its very difficult to get a US bank account if you don't have a social security number and a US address. As far as I know, Valis isn't setting up international businesses any more. I have heard of businesses using forwarding addresses and an ITIN (international Tax identification number) to setup a bank account. The problem then comes in with a merchant account requiring a physical presence, and not a forwarding address. Technically, Valis wasn't providing a legal service as far as credit card processors are concerned, because of the lack of a physical US presence.

    You do need a US bank account to get a United States merchant account. Check with your local banks. You might find a bank that actually will have some ties to a bank in the United States. This will help to satisfy the YKYC (you know your customer) regulation.

    Some merchants have also had success with with Valis and eTrade as well for a United States bank account.
