Hey guys I'm a choreographer by profession and head a small dancing school in Mumbai, India I normally make some extra bucks by performing in various events and occassions like marriages etc. I also have a couple of friends who are into catering services, rock bands, DJing etc and make money via these fairs and other functions. We normally get contracts through our friends, relatives and social circle. I was wondering if there was any kind of a fair which basically is meeting point for event managers and service providers like me. There are a couple of events fairs that take place in US and Canada. I haven't come across any such fair in India. I personally don't mind spending a few bucks on renting a stall for such fairs but I'm not sure if these fairs take place in India.
Theres this fair called eventsfair (or something like that- cant remember) I myself provide security services to events and participate in such fairs. It happens every year in India. Not participating this year due to some other personal commitments. The results were quite good. On a average I got some 4 contracts via that fair. So I felt it was worth an investment Lemme know if u want more details.. i'll look for it n let u know
I believe you should make a website and market it well, surely it is not a costly affair, and would be long lasting. I know for many thing lot of people are surfing the net. Worth trying. Best of luck G-O
Hey bloggermania Could u please give me the details of that fair, Following is what I'd require - Its website link - When and where it takes place - How much does it cost - Your personal experience with the fair - as in how many clients/converts via this fair Thank u so much for ur help Hey buddy.. I had my own website a year ago. I also paid for SEOs n stuff.. couldn't recover my investment and have sincedecided to establish myself outside my social circle first.. build a sound portfolio and then have my own website. i personally believe that these kinda event fairs are a good investmtent.. as in.. if i get work, good enough.. if not - i'can definitely make some contacts and can approach them later.. Thanks for ur advice though Cheerz
Hey trashcan Sorry couldn't reply earlier.. was busy with somthin Following are the answers to ur questions - http://www.eventsfair.in/ - Happens every year in Mumbai, This year it'll take place probably in Mid march - No idea about the cost this year - My experience was pretty good. I got 3 converts and there were around 8-10 potential contacts with whom I got in touch with and worked with later. It was definitely a return of investment. Even if u dont get converts you can definitely build ur network in there
Hey thanks buddy.. This is what I was lookin for BTW.. there is nothing mentioned about the cost of paticipating in this fair. Can I go there as a visitor and do I need to pay for it??
@trashcan - I think one has to pay a negligible amount to attend this fair. .Am not sure though.. Just contact www.eventsfair.in and confirm. I think it'll be a good investment if u're just goin to attend the fair. You can definitely build some good contacts in there. But if u're lookin to get a couple of clients - then I think renting a stall would be a better option
I think you should open a web site and also you should promote it your self>don't pay others for promotion.
Hey Bloggermania, Thanks for this. I have a rock band and we have performed in some corporate parties. These events are an excellent way to network. Though the cost of a stall is too steep for many (including me), I am definitely going to visit this event.
Hey simple talk - I myself am a graphic designer and I work for events worldwide. Do u think www.eventsfair.in could help me as well Pls reply ASAP
Shouldn't you be knowing better? Ofcourse it may help man. There is no downside to networking, right? Specially when all the people from the events industry are going to be there. Are you a freelancer? I am looking for an out of the box graphics designer.
