Here's a screenshot so far.. the site is not live and I don't need google picking it up yet. This does NOT run off wordpress or any other CMS. It being powered by a script I've developed which has no name yet. SEO friendly and extremely user friendly. Just enter some keywords for your niche, add some user auctions. turn off the submission feature and your site is ready to go. Unfortunately, I am not a web designer so it's pretty plain at this point.
Of course; when, I don't know. I'll be in touch with some gurus here to figuring out a way to get the word out.
Ok, here's the first demo site. http://www.1pennydeals.com I do not have the .01 - .99 part activated yet, it's not part of the base package. You can search for items, and if the search is valid, it will add that search to the database, and make a "page" out of it. You can also add ebay users to your sidebar, but only if they are selling something. The site will automatically generate a sitemap for you to use with google, on a valid search, or user submission. I have code to auto-submit to google, yahoo, live.com and ask.com. Just need to add it still. The site will detect if a search term is content based, which is how the privacy, about us and contact "pages" are made. In other terms, you do not have to use this for an affiliate site, but who would want to do that. There is a setting you change to make the site live or not, basically turning off the search term and user submission stuff that is added to the database. package comes with click tracking, so you'll be able to see what auctions are being clicked on. The best part is, you don't need wordpress or anything like that. It's all stand alone. I still need to make an admin page, and make up some install scripts. Enjoy,
min/max price is now set up.. place a check on the .01 - .99 and enter your search to get items that are currently between those values.
I have off tomorrow from work, so what I'll do is make a post in the buy/sell forum later tonight. I'll make a nice pre-release offer. Only catch is, you will have to live without the admin control panel / install scripts until I get those parts finished. At this point, it's just a matter of filling in some config values and manually creating a couple tables in a database. Once I am satisfied with the final product, the price will go up, and anyone who bought during this pre-release can get the final version at a discount, or run with what they already have. I also want to do a clean install on another site I have, so I can at least document the steps needed to install. If there is anything that can or should be changed based of the demo provided so far, please let me know. On a side note, I decided to keep the .01 - .99 part in as part of the base install, I realize there are people who want to find the best possible deal.
Ok, just finished cleaning up the base script. And have successfully tested it on a new domain, www.thatdarnmovie.com It took less than 15 minutes , from start to finish, excluding getting a cj id. I had this domain sitting around ready to use, but didn't know I would end up getting into this CJ/Ebay stuff. I have to make one more DB export to get rid of the default user names, and I'm set for now.
I'm still chugging along, found and fixed a couple minor bugs, and added a feature that will let you do word replacements. An example would be, #site_name# would be coverted to what ever you set in the config file. You'll be able to overide that with anything you've stored in the db. This feature is needed for the content data. Now I just need to add the feature to the admin panel (still not done) to let you make up your own replacements. Speaking about content, I'm implimenting a feature that will let you select a keyword you decided to use, then tack on a description for that keyword that can be shown above the auctions. I've also included a default contact us page so your users can reach you without making up your own forms.
I was just clicking around the www.thatdarnmovie.com site and noticed that when you click on an auction, it only takes you to the eBay home page, not to the auction itself. This a glitch or is it supposed to do that ?
interesting, can you pm me the the listing, and is it doing it still. I've been testing and updating and you might have caught me in the middle of something. It was late last night and I ended up making some dumb mistakes I caught in the morning. Ok, figured it out. I ended up escaping all those & signs, while fixing another problem I had. Should be better now.
Got more bugs ironed out, and moved all config info into one file. Now it will be easier to make changes to the settings online. Also looking for a seasoned DP member who can give this a test run along with an honest review and some feedback. on a side note, dreamhost is doing some work on their servers so all my sites are down for another 4-5 hours.
