Any dropshipping pros out there?

    Hi Everyone,

I'm thinking about starting a wholesale website for a specific beauty product genre, and I've been trying to find a good dropshipper that has ties to popular brand names. So far I've found a bunch of no-named junk from overseas. Can someone please lead me in the right direction?

If you need more info, please PM me.

    Thanks.

    Check out Dropship Boards.

Join a dropshipping community one of the best ways to get into the industry. There's lots of scams and crappy stuff when it comes to dropshipping so ask for opinions before you hop on to anything.

Well, here is the idea. You sign up with Doba and then order something for yourself and when you receive the item under the from part you can usually find the supplier and then you can go direct with that supplier.

Find a local manufacturer.. take a van, fill it up for 1/2 retail prices.. and then start your business. I guarantee you that there's a manufacturer within an ours drive from you that can give you fantastic prices, and you'll be doubling your money every month. That's all I've got to say.

..pretty much what I said in this post:

The whole point of dropshipping is to avoid the process of buying in bulk, warehousing, shipping, returns, etc...

It's low start up cost, and removes lots of the business processes for people such as packaging and shipping. It basically makes it possible for an average joe to run a business by himself without having to dish out his life's savings into it.

I you're considering dropshipping on eBay, it's very difficult. There are very few industries that dropshipping will net you money on eBay. The markups are very low and the fees are very high.

Thanks for the responses everyone....I wound up going to the hospital and totally forgot to check back in. I apologize for that. I was looking into starting a drop shipping site for spa and salon items (not just small products), but then I narrowed it down to indoor tanning bed lotions, because tanning salon prices are a total scam compared to online suppliers.

But, as I said, my health went south so I had to give up on that idea for now. Thanks again for the help.

**if anyone reads this and wants some insider information about tanning lotion suppliers, send me a PM and I will send you the names of the catalogs and magazines I've discovered.

I hate that I caught you after you got ill. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Don't give up on the drop ship idea. Mydssd.com is probably the best overall directory, but it costs a little bit. If you are needing info on a certain product, however, PM me and I'll see what they have listed.

When considering a drop ship store, keep in mind that many of the drop ship distributors these days have retail stores. And they rank 1st page of Google. Some even offer free shipping. How can you compete with that? I true distributor should want their merchants to do well. It makes them money.

Be sure and do some keyword research before you start so you know that you can compete and that people are looking for the products. Try not to sell something online that you can buy in a retail store, unless you can beat the prices by a ton. If you plan to do Google adwords while you are waiting for your organic rankings to come up, make sure your product has enough markup so that you can afford a PPC campaign with a good ROI (return on investment).

High ticket items are great for Google adwords.
