if there's, what's the difference ? 1. www.yoursite.com/directory.html 2. www.yoursite.com/directory 1. www.yoursite.com/directory-page1.html 2. www.yoursite.com/directory/1
Keywords! directory.html and directory are (arguably) the same, while the last two add the new keywords of "page1" and "1". All of these are bad, you should use descriptive words in your URLs: yoursite.com/metal-can-openers Will increase your SERPs for "metal can openers" and yoursite.com/metal-canopeners Will increase your SERP for "metal canopeners"
Yeah true this, but unless you have a CMS, going back and changing all those pages and redirecting them for search engines will be a big job....
ok but what if you have 5 pages for metal can openers will you use yoursite.com/metal-can-openers/1 or yoursite.com/metal-can-openers/page1.html i'm talking about dynamic site.
yoursite.com/metal-can-openers/1 i think this will work better because it doesn't take too much away from the keyword desity.... not sure though
i feel its better to name them different like metalcan openers description its uses and links for it like that if you have such things
Totally irrelevant. Neither "1" nor "page1.html" have any intrinsic SEO value. It's the term "metal-can-openers" that will help your in SERPs.
well according to you should use it as domain.com/metal-can-openers-1 as your every url Will increase your SERPs for "metal can openers" of each page and 1 will tend to work as words used in long tail keywords, in which you focus on main keyword but use long tail keywords.
