    Hey,
Any idea how we gonna calculate the new weight? I heard there is also a Yahoo PR that works on 1-10 system which is almost dead?
    ALEXA is also an idea..

Alexa is not Idea, more of a 'joke' (if you are referring to alexa rank)

Maybe calculate our own "PR" based on the number of backlinks in Google, Yahoo and MSN combined? Could take a bit of work though.

I do not think that will work out .. the system might go into a never ending loop .. let say u got 100 BL and co-op assign u with another 50 BL. Then u will have 150 BL now and co-op will assign you more .. never ending i think

whereas PR is not updated every moment so the co-op will never go into this.

If PR is totally gone (which I seriously doubt) it's only a portion of the equation. It's all relative, meaning that we're all still playing the same game with similar weights (though weight is in the low thousands now compared to some sites who had 10s of thousands in weight), though now the playing field greatly supports those who run forums or Amazon based sites with lots of pages indexed in Google since there's no cap on the amount of weight you can have.

I think right now it's wait and see for a few days. If it doesn't come back, shawn will whip something up quickly that will cover things evenly.

I was under the impression that PR had quite a large effect on weight, like it was a multiplier. So, someone with high pr, e.g. PR8 would decrease in weight 8 times if they went down to PR1. If everyone is now PR0 then we should all have gone down to 0 weight...
I think I may have been given an oversimplified version of the algorithm, but surely the lack of PR in it will stop it working?
Also, the keyword checking tool is still showing PR for my sites. Why?

The coop weighting system is based very largely on PR. As we all have read, PR seems to be gone-- or at least it has been for 2+ days now. Considering this, what could we do for the COOP? Short term and long term?

Short term, I think it would be best to disable automatic validation that could cause signifiant weight drops for people. If the "last known PR" is stored somewhere, that would be helpful to maintain balance and still validate the links are there...

Long term, if PR doesn't come back, I'm not sure what could be done to help balance the coop. Any ideas?

So is everyone else also scared to press the manual site validation link?

two of sites have failed validation and when revalidated came back with a fraction the weight

Since one actually has more pages indexed now .....

I usually like to do manual validation to prevent DP from leaving me at 0 weight when the constant flukes happen. I usually check google indexed pages before I do so, and if the # has gone down, I wait a little longer(until a day or so before the automatic one goes through). For most of my sites, I haven't manually validated in a while, so sadly they'll probably automatically validate into the PR0/PR1 hole-- down from PR5/PR6!!! That will cut my weight down to pitiful levels(one will drop from 30k to 3k or so, I believe). Automatic weight calculation should be turned off until PR is back...

All the PR tools out there use the reverse-engineered "toolbar PR" method, unless I'm mistaken. If the toolbar doesn't work, all the tools on the net shouldn't...
