I am feeedup with these losers, they charge penalty if you wanna pay later full loan at one go, high interest charges etc etc.

Take loan from a Gov bank. My next loan will surely be from SBI.

I know about the service of HDFC Bank..
If you have a salary account then it automatically open at zero balance. but when you leave the job or any other condition will be applied then the bank will ask you to change your salary acc to Saving.. and then it will be essential to have minimum 5000 balance in your account....

Only salary accounts are opened at Zero balance, you need to deposit 5000 Rs check from another bank for HDFC account.

Edit:- Just looked at the link and yeah, zero balance account with HDFC.
Damn I paid them 5000 Rs to open one for me a long ago.

I think only salary accounts open with a zero balance but for the savings account, you have to maintain the minimum balance as per bank norms.

This is exactly the reason why I insisted Digital_subhi to double check on the eligibility criteria.
When the offer sounds too good, the devil is always in the detail! :(

Yup, but still we can get an account with 0 balance in AXIS bank but at the time of opening you need to deposit 5k. :)
And you can withdraw it after opening of account.
Also there are some banks who are ready to open student accounts for 0 balance.
But I think the best would be HDFC(Savings Account) with 2500 minimum balance ! As they have got lots of facilities in them.

Thats Fine. :) Go for HDFC.

All private and nationalised banks are having No Frills account. But with very minimum facilities.
Rs. 1000 for account opening and minimum balance in all nationalised banks. All private banks are charging (looting) enormous fees on this minimum balance fee. But they are providing some good service compare to other banks.

Axis bank has a zero balance account if you have any two of the following -
    1. Gold/ Platinum Credit Card
    2. Own House
    3. Land line phone bill more than Rs. 1000/mo
    4. Mobile bill more than 1500/mo
    5. Rs. 20000/mo salary credited in your account

So go for minimum fee account instead of zero balance

Rightman, Shubham, You still have chance for zero balance account in HDFC.

HDFC has different types of slabs for Savings account. Like..
    1). Normal Savings
    2). Classic Account
    3). Preferred Account

It depends on your transactions. Preferred account is top most....

If anyone of your relatives or friends has Preferred account in HDFC, then you can have Zero balance account under him/her.

Just contact your HDFC branch for more info about Preferred account.

You can open No Frill account from HDFC bank.
I m using it for the last 4 yrs.
Initially you have to pay 500/- to open an account.
    Minimum balance is zero.
You can avail all the facility of normal account.

    You are spot on...Ronak.

I myself enjoy a zero balance account with HDFC but that is due to my share trading business. I have been able to extend this facility to my wife's bank account as well.

I think no-frills accounts in any bank got some limitations, if you open the account as a student. 0 balance account for job holders have all the feathers available.

you can't keep INR10k in bank account as minimum balance? then you need Below Poverty Line certificate to open No-Frills account from private banks.
