Any alternative to adwords?

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by app2us.com, May 23, 2008.

I have a budget of USD 2.00 for my site promotion. I have been using google adwords and I am ok with it. I typically get one visitor for 10 cents.

Are there better programs? I have heard facebook ads are good but never tried. Anyone tried it? Please help.

    Thanks,

    I presume you mean $2 a day?

There are other PPC tools. Yahoo has one called Yahoo Search Marketing. Clicks a re supposed to be cheaper but they don't get anything like the traffic

At $2 per day, it's almost better to go the Content Network route, even if a lot of those clicks tend to be worhtless.

As for Facebook, it is simple to use, but is not really the same keyword-targeted (there is a keyword-targeting tool in the program, though not the same). I have run a few campaigns in it, but they have varied in cost from 0.55 to 1.00 per click, so it may not be worth your time and effort with such a low budget.

Consider increasing your budget of you want longer exposure and serious visitors.

MSN adCenter has really good quality traffic. You can also check my sig for $75 free credit. 5 cent min bid. $5 activation fee.

Miva is also a good network. they claim to have much cheaper keywords than adwords.

Its gonna be pretty hard to test market with two bucks. I think you should be trying some seo first.

Think more about conversion than budget
You wouldn't mind paying $20 per click if it brought you $120 profit.
once you have a clear roi from your landing page you can focus on click cost.

    Thanks for all suggestions.
I am surprised to see how everyone thinks $2/day is very low. I wish I had more to invest on this.
How much is a minimum decent budget for google adwords campaign that you recommend?
    Thanks,

Soooo I sign up and open a campaign because all the advertising says .05 min bid, $5 activation fee....

Then I start a campaign and it's approved. Well I get paused and a reply that says I have to set my bid at $1.42 MINIMUM for my keyword. Now, I could understand if there were 5, 10, 100 advertisers on the keyword but there's not - there's ONE. "telepresence" When you type that specific keyword in on Live Search, there's only one sponsored ad. So I think cool, I don't mind being number 2 at a nickle, right? WRONG, MSN says I have to bid $1.42 just to show my ad. And I said "but you state .05 min bids in all your advertising". They won't refund me my $5 bucks either. MSN is a bunch of idiots IMO....

    MSN AD CENTER SUCKS!

    L2ride55,
Very well said. I tried MS Ads last year only because I got $25 free thing via godaddy. They rejected my keywords like MBA and PhD although my site is all about University admissions and has many occurances of these words. When I called them they apologized and said it was computer review. They activated. Next day my keyword GRE got suspended (My site ranks 1 in google search if you search on GRE Cutoff) GRE may be written 100 places. Again same cycle. I am so done with MS Ad Center.

the keyword ""telepresence" has on average 80 searches a month only. Maybe that's why you weren't receiving any clicks, because nobody searched for it.

But it should still show the impression when somebody does a search for "telepresence" with only one other advertiser.... My beef was they say a nickle, but it's really not a nickle. "5 cent min bid"

Forget the clicks, I pay for a domain every other day from the money earned on another publisher's feed, only need a few - I was looking to do some arbitrage between MSN publisher and the "other" feed on my sites....

I was hoping to advertise on MSN cheaper than people pay on the "other"

There are many other services like bidvertiser, kontera, yahoo search marketing, msn search marketing... But google will give you targeted traffic than others....
