I agree. People cry a lot about quality not quantity. I say why not have both. Spend the time and energy getting high quality backlinks, but also piss away a few minutes here and there playing around and experiment with using free search indexes (Yahoo style) such as the ones on this page i found on another thread http://seo.galtech.us/

you can that backlink with directories and article submission but if you get 4k backlinks in short time, you can be sandbox . it's too fast for you

 

My personal preference of building links is by article marketing and forum posting. I noticed you do not have a link to your site in your sig file, yet you have 186 posts. Most of my backlinks are built from article submission however.

 

Even a single linkbait could bring you 4000 backlinks.
Just be creative or pay someone for a great idea / content
