    Javascript frameworks work no matter what the serverside language is. I Recommend jquery. I write tutorials on it, see my signature for a link.

    Your generating (Html/xml) data with ASP arent you? Any ajax lib will be able to handle that.

    Sounds to me like perhaps you have some fear of AJAX, take the time to learn it and within 20 minutes you will "get" it (pardon the pun), It really is quite simple.
