Bush to have Killed 2,000 U.S. Military by November 1 At the current death rate of U.S. military in Iraq Bush will have killed 2,000 of our men and women needlessly by November 1. The average number killed per day stays around 2.07 to 2.09, where it currently is. At that rate in 22 days, November 1, there will be 2,000 dead in Iraq. In a Special Defense Department Briefing General George Casey, USA, Commander of U.S. Forces in Iraq said, "But I mean, as you know, defeating insurgencies takes time. The average insurgency -- the average counterinsurgency in the 20th century was about nine years, so it takes time to snuff out the insurgency. And also, I think you know, most insurgencies are defeated by political means rather than necessarily by military means." Let's do some math. 365 X 9 = 3,285 + 2 days for leap years = 3,287 days At the average rate of 2.08 U.S. military killed per day that is 6,833 dead in Iraq. At the current rate of 15.90 wounded per day that is 52,263 U.S. wounded in Iraq. All these lives lost and destroyed for weapons of mass destruction that did not exist. George W Bush should hope his alleged belief in heaven and hell is in vain because if there is such a place as hell there will be a reservation in the smoking section with his name on it.
Went back to a post made by Yo-Yo on page 123 or something like that. Bush... I think he sucks. Next question.
You also missed the part where Zman admitted to sucking also. So he sucks and bush sucks that's why he likes him so much. (BTW, that is a sad attempt at humor.)
I think most polititians belong in the same place as the lawyers (which most were prior) - behind bars !
Yep and the few good ones who are honest and actually try to do some good either usually don't make it very far, or get swept up in others lies/bad deeds supporting thier party line.
I cannot find the quote I was looking for, but I did find these fine quotes along the way: If I knew for certain that a man was coming to my house to do me good, I would run for my life. -- Henry David Thoreau Attempts to create heaven on earth invariably produce hell. -- Karl Popper It is not the function of our government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error. -- United States Supreme Court in American Communications Association v. Douds Most of the trouble in the world is caused by people wanting to be important. -- T.S. Eliot It is a good thing that we do not get as much government as we pay for. -- Will Rogers In 1940, 4 million Americans worked for government and 11 million worked in manufacturing. Today, there are 7 million more Americans working for government (21.5 million) than in all manufacturing industries (14.5 million). We have shifted from an economy of people who make things, to an economy of people who tax, regulate, subsidize and outlaw things. -- Stephen Moore, "Pricey Government Prize" You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves. -- William Boetcker The chief cause of problems is solutions. -- Eric Sevareid Public servants say, always with the best of intentions, 'What greater service we could render if only we had a little more money and a little more power.' But the truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector. -- Ronald Reagan, 27 October, 1964 Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. -- Daniel Webster
Definitely speaks for itself. I wished people could just put their personal opinions of Bush aside for a minute and look at the issues for what they are. If you don't like the man, guess what: you don't have to. But don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. Saying "fuck it all" is not the way to go. This is not Bush's war btw as the liberal media is trying to portrait it. Just because Bush Sr. was president when Golf War I was going on, doesn't mean another President wouldn't have done the exact same thing. If you want to go against Bush, then please don't go against Homeland security and the work our military is doing. Those guys need support. I have family in the war right now. I want my cousin to come home. But please think logically. What would happen if we left now. And please don't base the reason on why we are there on whether there were WMDs.
My only argument with that at all is of course it's Bush's war, he and his administration pushed for it with faulty if not misleading and embelished intelligence. Our soldiers of course deserve our full support in completing the mission, debating if and how the war was in error and misleading by OUR president is crucial to the future of our great land. Without doing so will only allow future presidents to continue to send soldiers into harms ways with public support that soon fades when it's found out the war was waged under at least some false pretense. Not arguing the merits of the war and how it was lead is just as dangerous if not more so to our troops than not supporting them as it can doom future generations into the same vicious cycle
Bush's Projected End of Term Job Approval Rating The highest job approval rating for George W(orst) Bush at the very beginning of his presidency was 57%. His current job approval rating is 39% as of October 5, 2005. There were 1,718 days from January 22, 2001 to October 5, 2005. Let's do the math. 57 - 39 = 18 / 1,718 = 0.01047729918 average percentage point decrease per day in Shrub's approval rating There are 1,206 days from October 5, 2005 to January 22, 2009. 1,209 X 0.01047729918 = 12.6670547086 or 13 more percentage points decrease in Bush's current approval rating of 39% by time he leaves office at the current rate from the beginning of his presidency. By time Bush leaves office he should have a job approval rating of 26%. But Bush's approval rating was at its highest shortly after 9-11 when it was 90% on October 9, 2001. There were 1,458 days from October 9, 2001 to October 5, 2005. 90 - 39 = 51 / 1,458 = 0.03497942386 average percentage point decrease since 9-11-01 1,209 X 0.03497942386 = 42.2901234467 or 42 more percentage points decrease in Bush's current approval rating of 39% by time he leaves office at the current rate from the highest approval rating he ever had which means Bush could have an approval rating of -3% by time he leaves office.
Was suprised to see you use one of Bush's higher rankings now, I've read polls at 37% and lower Glad to see you not take the lowest for the calculations though, gives some more credibility to your numbers -edit found the following graph an interesting read http://img70.imageshack.us/my.php?loc=img70&image=aproval_vs_alert_chart_NEW.gif
I've heard the lower numbers too but they aren't available at pollingreport.com. When in doubt give the POS benefit of the doubt.
Not a problem, I should realy start book marking my reads and articles. Would make finding them again much, much easier
