It would be nice if you post an answer that is relevant to thread and other people postings SOMETIMES, instead of just repeating the white house and fox news press releases all the time.
Heres another good scenario for you: 1. Iraqi child has 3 brothers and loving parents. 2. US bombs blow up his parents and blow of his brothers limbs. 3. Iraqi child nearly starves and dies from chaos that ensues. 4. Iraqi child becomes man 5. Man avenges death of family by attacking the country that killed tehm. 6. Ignorant american blames al quada and says they are mindless religious extremists.
I'm just asking how many YOU "think" have been killed. I just want to know where you're coming from on this. FWIW- It's not a trick question. I'm not trying to get a "gotcha". And I'm not going to hold you to it.
Honestly, I cannot believe how stupid people can be. Do any of you liberal morons read Osama bin Laden? OBL knows full well that nation-states are irrelevant in this conflict. This is a global war. Yet you persist in your outdated thinking. Yes, before we took the war to Iraq, the war was elsewhere. Actually, it was in NYC. Today the war is in Iraq. Tomorrow it will be in Saudi Arabia or Iran or Jordan or Israel or Los Angeles. It doesn't matter, we're all on the same planet and this is a war for the planet. OBL is smarter than you.
Thats why he lives in a rock cave. You should join him with your thinking. Countries borders can't just be tramped over. You think we can just go invade who ever the hell we want? Are you praying for world war 3 and the end of mankind or something? Maybe your just praying that we wipe out everyone who follows the Islamic religion and convert the whole world over to christianity eh?
From the D.O.D.? C'mon, zman! So is that where you get your "facts"? I guess that explains a lot. Now I can see why you're usually reluctant to post links. You're too embarrassed...or at least you should be! Maybe it's good news...maybe it's true but I just can't believe something coming from the DOD!
Since USA is not occupied but Iraq is, your quote is more in support of people who are fighting in Iraq than what you are suggesting.
Let's play a numbers game shall we: Source: http://antiwar.com/mercer/?articleid=3994 Iraqibodycount.net llinked to from antiwar.com puts the figures for iraqi deaths at 26165 to 29478 while an extremely high number, you will see that a fair number of these were executed, road side bomb, suicide bomber, or some other means of terror to inflict damage on citizens. I do not see how we (American's) can stand to be blamed for this. Last I checked no American soldiers were strapping bombs to themselves and running into crowds of people. As you can see, we stopped a much bigger threat by doing what we did, Uday is said to have loved to watch people be tortured, I don't know about you, but 250, 000 of your own people sounds pretty ruthless and saddam didn't like to watch, how would you like someone that liked to rape and torture at the helm? Or better yet, how would you like someone in a wealthy country like that to finance something much bigger and more expensive the 9/11, maybe kill 20000-30000 americans at a concert or a football game.
Do you spell "fact" n-e-w-s? Damn that American education system. I posted a news link. Read it and take what you want from it. I didnt think you would like positive news. If it doesnt involve America being the bad guy it just isnt valid is it?
The death toll has nothing to do with where I come from on the issue of war. The numbers I have seen range from 20,000 to the over-inflated number of 150,000 which is really 100,000 from the lancet report which has been heavily discredited, but a fan favorite of those who portray they care. Given the rate at which terrorists continue to kill, and the last realistic numbers I've seen, I'd say 30-40 thousand. I can't help but wonder how much higher the numbers would be, if some had their way and we pulled out. Now let the others begin their attacks
Gtech, you know im gonna pull you up when you get weak, stick to your quality arguments You know thats a silly comment. That I would expect from "some" people on here as you like to put it.. excuse me while I retroactively pick through these posts, im late joining. Not sure if im really in the mood for a little willy today though. He might start saying "youre thicker than me" "Finally, the government agree with me" "one day if everyone works hard enough they can be like me" or perhaps my favourite " you must be a crackhead"
yo-yo is denying that. When women in Denver, Colorado are forced to wear burka's, I will agree that our plan was wrong. Oh wait... no... I'll be dead. If you are still thinking in terms of borders, you are at least a decade behind Osama bin Laden in your understanding of this conflict. Killing terrorists (or whatever word you choose to use -- call them "Islamist Holy Warriors" if you want) is one part of a successful strategy. Offering an alternative to Islamic authoritarianism is another required component. That's why we are nation-building in Iraq. To serve as a model for democracy in Islamic countries. We need to teach those people that they are not dogs to be kicked around by murderous authoritarian regimes and crazy Mullah's. How may Arab countries are democracies right now? That's why we need a model. A lot of Arabs and a lot of Muslims seem to believe that freedom, liberty, peace, and prosperity are not attainable goals. Iraq is our laboratory to show them that this is not true. And that is exactly why Al Qaeda is in Iraq now -- to show Muslims and Arabs that freedom, liberty, peace and prosperity are unattainable. That is why Al Qaeda is killing school teachers and anyone else who tries to make life better for the Iraqi people. Oh please... if you had to put even money on this fight -- which side would you bet on? Islamists or Western Civilization?
