It's been going on for years. It is US Policy, has nothing to do with violating the constitution, and IS PERFECTLY LEGAL!!!

Especially now, in a time of war. Personally, I think whoever leaked the story, along with the NYT writers involved should be hung for treason.

Either way, let's just take a good look at whose "rights" were violated? Some 500 people had these types of investigations performed on them. Compare that to the rights taken away from some 110,000 Japanese Americans rounded up by FDR and put in concentration camps in the US. Hmmm...

Let's also compare that to Lincoln who in 1861 and 1862 suspended Habeas Corpus. Lincoln actually had reporters who were writing articles much like these scumbags at the NYT's thrown in jail.

I've not seen Bush suspend Habeas Corpus, nor have I seen him throw reporters in jail. Hell, I am willing to bet there was no pre-911 NSA spying going on either. How now can we account for Carter and Clinton doing the same thing when the nation was not at war?

What really chaps my ass is that the same people that claim to be oblivious to this policy are the same ones that were aware of it, and gave the President the go ahead. What an interesting conundrum.
