Some are laughing, that's for sure! As I posted earlier, I bet zarqawi is pissed off that people like some in this thread are taking credit away from his work and blaming the US for it.

On the other hand, he's probably saying "go guys, go!" so he can take over the country and start slaughtering at will. And some people actually support this.

What's a terrorist gotta do these days to get some credit when all the moonbats blame it on everyone else? Surely Allah will keep an accurate count of the virgins owed

Wow that sucked I had pasted a bunch, went to grab more and they fricken disappeared in the box so instead I'm linking to just a few, this realy however is pretty common knowledge and again was asking for you to provide info so I could see the opposite view.

Overview of womans rights under saddam, many other sources freely available online as well.
    http://hrw.org/backgrounder/wrd/iraq-women.htm
    http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=2580&popup_delayed=1
    http://riverbendblog.blogspot.com/

there are many of them, from big time papers, blogs, international, etc. Ghist is Iraq did have the best womans rights in the middle east, better than many countries even democratic, went down hill after first gulf war to appease the 'masses' Shia, the Shia are now the ones in power. They have already tried to stop womans rights in many areas, do some research.

However again I was not trying to argue the point, was wanting to see where you got your info from, not the other way around. Put it bluntly if iraq is ruled by the Shia as it more than likely will be and they put an islamic form of government in which they want to womans rights will be gone completely, stonings will be common place.

Adding---Was looking to be informed with an open mind, if that is what is trully going on now I want to know. However from what I myself have read and heard it is not.

I'm open to change my mind unlike some in here, fill me with knowledge.

Here is the link, obviously you don't read these things because I posted before in another thread.

"Women have played important roles throughout Iraq's history. It was in the early years of secular Baathist socialism and early in Saddam Hussein's rule that women's status and rights were formally enshrined in legislation and treaties. In 1970, a new constitution nominally made Iraqi women and men equal under the law (although family law continued to favour men). Under Saddam Hussein, women's literacy and education improved, and restrictions on women outside the home were lifted. Women won the right to vote and to run for political office, and they could drive, work outside the home and hold jobs traditionally held by men. Before 1991, female literacy rates in Iraq were the highest in the region, Iraq had achieved nearly universal primary education for girls as well as boys, and Iraqi women were widely considered to be among the most educated and professional women in the Arab world."

Here is the link to full article:

    http://www.womenwarpeace.org/iraq/iraq.htm

Here is another link about present situation:

The Bush Administration bears direct responsibility for this crisis. After inserting himself heavily into negotiations over the draft, US Ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad backed demands for constitutional provisions that would give clerics control over family status laws governing marriage, divorce, and women's inheritance and property rights. Iraq’s current family status laws—among the most progressive in the Middle East—could be overturned by this move. Like religious fundamentalists in the United States and around the world, Iraq’s Islamic parties use religion as a means of pursuing a reactionary political agenda that begins with the subjugation of women within the family. By deferring to the clerics on family status laws, the US has handed a key victory to the clerics who are pushing for Iraq to become an Islamic state.

I know that you don't believe in these sources and you think that everything is made up by terrorist since you have a friend there, but you can at least take a look. ;)

zman is always calling for links. Yet I don't think zman has EVER posted a link. I also don't think he's taken the time to read any of the articles posted.

Have you taken the time to look at the statistics? I know reports vary but your statement is pretty ridiculous!

How did you become so indoctrinated?

You sound like the dumbass girls in playboy that say stuff like, "Our soldiers are in Iraq fighting for our freedoms and liberty." Only you don't have nice tits so it's a little harder to excuse.

Crackin me up man! You quoted me saying are you going to answer my question and then completely ignored it.

You guys pretend that you have it all straight, but anyone reading the thread from page one who does not have an agenda and would not prefer to see America fall before terrorism does, can see what is really going on here.

Seriously, every time I jump into this thread I find myself in a giggle. You guys have no clue how silly your posts look do you? You honeslt are oblivious.

Its reminds me of the Democratic party, they actually think Dean is HELPING the party. LMAO!

    Get a clue.

HUH? I'm sorry but I must admit both sides on the thread left and right are off base on many things, including you Zman. Some of us though are actually trying to learn or be informed and are open, some obviously are not.

You claim to have knowledge of prewar Iraq but your statements prove the opposite and for the most part are only republican statements I've heard over and over on the news, no factual basis, guess it gets burned in the brain?

Yeah it comes with the decoder ring.

Seriously, I have a friend who just came home from there, he said that yes iraqi's die everyday, alot of them, but, it is a war zone....people are going to die, if you have an idea on how to wage a deathless war call the prez I am sure he would love to know. My friend said and I quote "You don't know your doing the right thing until you see an Iraqi girl smile because she gets to goto school for the first time. You don't know your doing the right thing until you are hugged and told thank you by an Iraqi father who son was held prisoner by a regime because he spoke out against them." Sure there are atrocites, I do not deny that, but, look at the history of warfare and tell me when there has not been. You believe everything you hear or read on the news? If thats the case there are 1000+ corpses of raped little girls in the basement of the Superdome in Louisiana that need removed. News outlets like to report things that are sensationalized so their ratings go up, you wanna impress me, use that creamy gray nougat that god gave you and take in "all" information and think for yourself.
