Rain is fine. Snow too I suppose. It is this 60+ mph wind gust fest we have had the past few days. It was relatively calm today. Hopefully it stays that way. It could be worse. I could live in the Gulf Coast. All I lost was the use of a car for a few days and $250 in my deductible. Can't complain. No one was hurt, the house if fine and even though my back yard is practically a forest I never lost a single limb. Go figure.

That does suck. Yeah, I bought it in Lake Geneva (their snow plowing sucks here) last year. I was taking a curb at break neck speed and forgot I was in the front wheel drive vehicle. Bent the hell out of my rim.

On the Elkhorn front we are replacing a StarOS system we built (custom) for our older 2.4Ghz 802.11 systems. The MB blew and things are on a back up system. From there, yes, moving to Canopy. My wireless company is being acquired and will soon cover North of Port Washington down to the Illinios border, and as far west as Madison. Quite a range. My guess is it will be the largest Wireless ISP in the state. Keep an eye on http://www.wisconsinwireless.net for details.

Got any reviews on the canopy system? My area just got the coverage and I'm seriously debating getting it. Currently I'm stuck with Direcway which blows!

Do you know who it is? If it is the company that is acquring us you're in luck? :)

It is an excellant system and unlike Directway it works 100% in both directions. For the home users we are starting at $24.95 for 1MB. It goes up from there, but really depends on what your needs are. We will likely have some special pricing once the new systems are in place and the transistion is made.

Review wise the best thing I can suggest is to look at Part-15.org and the wireless lists. Look through the archives for Motorola Canopy. It's easy to install, well built and very robust. Kicks the pants out of the crap I went through back in 99' when I had to peice things together using indoor gear outdoors, mainly because no one made anything for WISPs yet.

I am bumping thread from hell with this amusing note that recently appeared in my mailbox:

    Bush Stagnated My Air

My radio alarm clock woke me this afternoon with the horrifying news that an “Air Stagnation Warning” would be in effect for the Greater Seattle Area throughout the entire holiday weekend.

Good Goddess! What terrible new ecological nightmare has Bush sprung on us now? Arsenic in the drinking water, global warming, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and now “Air Stagnation?”

I certainly wasn’t going to take any chances with my health. Regretfully, I’d have to cancel my trip to my grandmother’s this Thanksgiving.

“Gosh, Larry, I don’t recall even inviting you,” my heartbroken Grandma told me over the phones minutes later. “As a matter of fact, that restraining order is still in effect.”

“Don’t try to talk me out of it,” I replied, “My mind is made up. You racist Nazis will just have to celebrate white man’s eradication of the indigenous peoples without me this year. It saddens me just as deeply as it does you.”

“Your grandfather is loading his shotgun,” said Grandma. “Ned! Put that thing away! He’s NOT coming!”

“…And when you’re sitting at the dinner table with all my inbred neocon cousins,” I continued, “remember to be thankful for all the kids who died in Iraq so you can have a full tank of gas. That’s blood on your hands, not cranberry sauce, you know.”

“I’m thankful for a lot of things,” Grandma snapped, “but you aren’t one of them.” The senile ol’ bat is sure getting cranky in her old age.

“No use begging, Gramma,” I told her. “I’m not going to ruin my lungs on a toxic pocket of stagnant air just so Bush’s big turkey buddies can line their feathery pockets. But if you can convince your beloved Shrub to ratify Kyoto, perhaps I’ll make it down for Winterfest next month.”

“Winterfest?” Grandma snorted. “You mean Christmas?”

“STOP FORCING YOUR RELIGION ON ME, YOU FUNDAMENTALIST KOOK!!!” I screeched and slammed the phone down, shattering my Nokia into a hundred pieces across the kitchen counter.

You try to be nice to these people in the spirit of the holidays and they start proselytizing like Pat Robertson at a transgendered abortionist’s same-sex wedding.

Right wing intolerance knows no bounds.

    Beautiful Will! Especially this quote:

    Happy Thanksgiving!

But after bashing liberalism so much.. if it wasn't for liberal opinions than we would all live in monarchies with no freedom at all.

    Err... no.

    Actually, that is completely wrong.

The commonly used definition of the word "liberal" is almost 100% different than it was two hundred years ago.

Have you read Hayek's Why I am Not a Conservative?

Some of us would continue living in denial with nothing but freedom, no matter what. My thoughts are my own.

ok.. however, I see liberalists as reformists.. not the Ideas they had 300 years ago.

I exchange the word 'liberal' with 'pro-left'.. better? ;)

Worse. Socialism, dictatorship, and monarchies are similar forms of government. The American "left" of today seeks to take us backwards in time.

    Not at all.

But how did we switch from Friedrich to Milton?

That wasn't AdSense that tried to take over my browser and prevent me from closing its windows without "scanning my computer".

I fail to see your point here. A dictatorship can have many shapes left or right. Backward? Well I agree on the conservative foreign politics of your country, but I sure that you need some left force when it comes to economics. I know one that been in US and she said it's like travell to a third world country.. ghettos, orphans and homeless people everywhere.

Im sorry.. but I just search for invidualism and stopped reading it.
