I don't know the actual number off hand, but know it's not a huge number in the least. I am pro death penalty, that however does not change the fact that many in other countries and cultures look at our death penalty the same way we ourselves look at much of Islam based laws and the penalties from such.

You would also I would think and hope have to base their current situation to at least pre 1900 US life, which was much more barbaric that what it is now currently in the US.

No child or other human being deserves to be treated that way but how does the killing of children in Iraq and establishing a similar government to this one in Iraq is going to help this child?

Do you mean after they start to do the same thing in Iraq then the children in Iran won't feel too bad about it.

It is ridiculous that you try to portray this administration as some kind of champion of human rights while this government policy has shown no respect for human rights, international laws and it is actually one of the few countries in the world that does not want to stop the crimes against the humanity by fighting the establishment of international court because of the fear that American officials can be arrested for different crimes committed by this government.

I actually haven't read up on that in awhile, I know they did at one time ammend some of the Islamic rules out for 'woman' that we would not support. But had also read it could still be interpreted to take rights away from woman in Iraq, not to mention it can be ammended I assume? Anyone with any updated info on the subject?

I really hate to defend the crazy Iranian Mullah's, but...

Speaking as a person who has been run over by automobiles on at least five seperate occassions, that kid received only a good scare.

Car tires are actually kind of soft when they run you over. I have never been run over with thick padding beneath me, but I can only believe that it would make the pressure even less.

The kid will be scared shitless (is that a bad thing?). But, I seriously doubt that he will receive any serious harm. I doubt that any of his arm bones will be fractured. And hell, even if I am wrong, that's still only a six week penalty.

Heck, who here didn't break bones as a kid? It didn't kill any of us.

    Sorry guys.

I actually almost brought that point up, figured I'd be flamed for it and wasn't sure on the size of car, etc. Glad to see someone had balls to do it though.

I still would not support doing this to a child, but if when he turns an adult he could have his arm chopped off I'd think it'd be better to have the car run over his arm as a kid as a warning. Would I support it being to my son in the US? Of course not, with Islamic law in place to protect him into the future I might.

If this is your reasoning and justification for the murder of thousands of iraqi civilians then why aren't we occupying saudi arabia, pakistan, india, China, Singapore, Sudan, Nigeria, and nearly every other country in Northern africa??

Like when 8 year old kids get run over with a car, intentionally, for stealing a loaf of bread:

Yes in our culture it is shocking, to me much, much worse than the death penalty. This however is much to do with cultural differences, not to mention yet again our ALLIES do much of the same thing. Was the child being punished by the government or by the religion or? Look at the punishements some parents inflict upon their children in the US, far worse in long term damage than this incident.

Am I backing it up? Absolutely not. I am trying to understand it and not rush to judgement based off our culture and moral beliefs.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

In our society and many others, parents would be held responsible. I might note that having allies doesn't mean they take on our beliefs and values, nor does it mean we accept theirs. There is no requirement, that I'm aware of, that says an ally must have all the same values and views.

Are you suggesting we should attack and occupy every country that is unfair to it's citizens? Do I really have to list them all out again or can we stop making up excuses as we go for the unjust war in Iraq

Would you be any less appreciative if we were? How many lives HAVE been saved from the very people you give their credit away to others?

If I were, don't you think I would have come right out and said it? Are you suggesting you are really so dense, that you read that in what I posted?
