Thanks hrblcantra. I'm glad to be on board. Left/right liberal/conservative is a form of philosophical Hegelian Dialectic control. Its been done many times throughout history. You have these liberals and conservatives fighting with each other, when in reality both parties are controlled by the same people. If you guys go and look at the voting records of John Kerry or George W Bush, what you will find is that they vote exactly alike on most issues. They just have different rhetoric.

Well, the elections are coming up in Italy and a withdrawal would make things easier as the oppsition in Italy is very strong. There are a lot of other problems that having more dead in Iraq won't help. Actually some money would be made available for an economy that's experiencing very little growth.
And that's the main reason why he didn't really want to go to war, and he didn't, he only joined in when the war was over for peacekeeping.

So such statements are obviously made to gain back some approval by the people. Unfortunately most of the people don't know what's better for them and many don't care for their descendants.

That's why so many oppose the war, because they couldn't see Saddam dangerous for them at the moment, nor would they care if he was dangerous in 10 or 20 years time.

And many around the world would not care thinking that the dangers were only for the US, or maybe for the UK. Actually thinking that maybe that would limit the international weight in economy etc of the UK-US.

How so? Have we ever had a non-white, or non-chistian, or non male president?

    Ever?

Do you have to have one even if voters chose someone else?

Voters should get what they want in democracy, not what a few would like.

Yes they do in some ways, but their supporters 'left/right' are far different ;)

I especially liked the assault weapons ban, both Kerry and Bush supported keeping it 'at least from what they said' yet guess who got flamed for it? Kerry of course and Bush praised for having basically the same stance at the time

Here is where I'm sure Gtech will ask for proof of which I will try to search the millions and millions of pages for one phrase,

Many catholics are just that. Some do that for strictly political reasons. It is a religion for many that means go to mass and feel like you have been forgiven so you can go do it again. They go because family did and it is part of their culture, just like someone going out to mcdonalds every Monday night. Just a habit.

Many people show up to churches just so they feel like they are doing something good, I like to stand in my garage and pretend I am a porsche, but no one believes me when I say I am a porsche.

The catholic church got its start when a certain roman emperor thought the christian beliefs were cool and mixed them with some of the roman beliefs. That is why some carry little statues or now put stickers of mary on their cars, etc...

Hey he was hungry and stole a loaf of bread in a perfect society. He deserved it, right gworld, yo-yo and DesignAgent?

I know, let's not get involved. Things are just fine over there, and if not they will just work themselves out.

Maybe we can try to wish things away again like we did pre 1943.

Mike, you need to understand that gworld doesn't actually care - he only wants to point out what is wrong with the U.S.

I personally do see the inhumane treatment going on, but you have to realise it is a different culture. We have the death penalty, which many countries look at us in the same respect on that issue alone such as we would on the example of what you posted. Yes in my opinion it is a far different situation, but that does not change the cultural divide. Not to mention many of our 'allies' do the same exact things.

Time will tell in Iraq, however those gaining power may actually release this type of law not get rid of it in the country if that's of which you are speaking.

thank you for the link :)
