Well, you'll have to forgive me on that because we dont hear anything from people such as you. We only see those who say things like "America should burn" and stuff like that. I blame that on the media though. This actually brings up a good point. It seems that the regular citizens of the nations for the most part dont hate or dispise each other. The media on the other hand paints a completely different picture and it is seriously hurting world peace.
Yeah same for those who died in the civil war, revolutionary, etc. War has its costs. If I were an Iraqi and I knew that when Saddam and his cronies were driving by my house I had to go outside and chant in support of him to keep my balls from being cut off, I would want to take the risk.
Huh? Maybe I am talking about a different Iraq. I am talking of the Iraq that I have a sister in who is fighting FOR those people. The same people who were not going to school, starting businesses, shopping with glee, etc. Come on Rob, surely you dont believe they were a happy, joyful, free people under Saddam now do you?
All those smart ass comments about assumptions from little Globaphobic willy. It seems pretty clear to me that I will be living in the states for a while, even though I have the choice of going to almost any country in the world, but thats probably because im a secret Islamic fundamentalist and want to show my hate. You sound like a xenophobic bigot who has ended up being entirely hypocrytical. Start a poll and see if I hate the US Little willy. Would you accept it if you are wrong ? Or just ask CR.. he has proof of my hatred towards the US. I told you to throw that "OH he hates us" stuff at Gworld you should, you just make yourself look like a fool. To me there is no "us" and "them" the world is far too small these days. By saying this you are implying I am racist. You know nothing about me and get so upset at assumptions being made at you. Yet would you like me to put your assumptions, insults, contradictions and hypocritical comments into 1 post to make it easy for you ? Meanwhile go on not giving a damn why your fellow man is dying in Iraq and worry about who is the better poster. You make me so proud ! Infact I wish I was you..
So you're saying they're better off dead? WTF! I don't think you and I are talking about the same thing here. (at least I hope we're not)
They werent joyful and free (some were) but now they are in CIVIL WAR You cant say that is a good swap either. Caught between a rock and a bomb..
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. -- John Stuart Mill When bad men combine, the good must associate else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle. -- Edmund Burke (1729-1797) If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves. -- Winston Churchill Right is more precious than peace. -- Woodrow Wilson If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live. -- Martin Luther King Jr., June 23, 1963. Speech in Detroit. The essence of war is violence. Moderation in war is imbecility -- British Sea Lord John Fisher All that is essential for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. -- Edmund Burke You can have peace, or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. -- Robert A. Heinlein, The Notebooks of Lazarus Long An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. -- Winston Churchill If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget ye were our countrymen. -- Samuel Adams The only power tyrants have, is the power relinquished to them by their victims. -- Éttiene de la Boétie, 1552 Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it. -- Thomas Paine With reasonable men I will reason; with humane men I will plead; but to tyrants I will give no quarter, nor waste arguments, where they will certainly be lost. -- William Lloyd Garrison One should never allow chaos to develop in order to avoid going to war, because one does not avoid a war but instead puts it off to his disadvantage. -- Nicolo Machiavelli, The Prince, 3 There is one source, O Athenians, of all your defeats. It is that your citizens have ceased to be soldiers. -- Demosthenes Once we have a war there is only one thing to do. It must be won. For defeat brings worse things than any that can ever happen in war. -- Ernest Hemingway We make war that we may live in peace. -- Aristotle 325 B.C. Some people live their entire lifetime and wonder if they ever made a difference to the world. Marines don't have that problem. -- United States President Ronald Reagan, January 1995 We know we can't beat you on the battlefield, but we can beat you on the streets of New York Washington, D.C., and San Francisco. -- North Vietnamese camp commander, Son Tay POW camp to Commander Paul Galanti, U.S. Navy, American POW. No man can sit down and withhold his hands from the warfare against wrong and get peace from his acquiescence. -- Woodrow Wilson God grants liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it. -- Daniel Webster History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or timid. -- President Dwight Eisenhower No man is entitled to the blessings of freedom unless he be vigilant in its preservation. -- General Douglas MacArthur Source: Quotes about War
You're getting nowhere fast. C'mon. See the world. Go live in the Sudan or some other Islamic paradise. Let's see how well they put up with your idiocy. Once again you are completely lost in the world. How do you expect to be taken seriously when you make such wildly ridiculous statements? You are not willing to make the necessary effort.
And what about the edited bits you dont want to comment on smart willy? Islamic Paradise? Yeah Everyone in Sudan is dying to get out. Im glad to see your ego is still intact and full size. I like the way you picked out my little digs at you.. Its clear you think Islam is wrong, me ? Im not into any religion. So once again I have the luxury of being objective. I suppose its currently the fastest growing religion in the world because people are forced to join.
You are an object, but you are not objective. To imagine that you are objective is a sure sign of mental illness. Seek professional help.
I think zarqawi is disappointed the US is getting credit for his and his terrorist thugs efforts. It's odd, sort of. One never really sees much posting about the terrorists causing harm. For some strange reason, it's always the coalition's fault. Kind of like the World Trade Center. We know who did it, yet some try to find blame in anyone else, but those who committed the crime. Same thing with the London bombings. Overwhelming evidence of who did it, but some try to make the actual bombers the victims. Same thing in Iraq. We're not there to kill innocent people. That's what zarqawi and his group of thugs are doing and what we are trying to stop. For some reason, some think if we just pulled out and let zarqawi keep on killing innocent people, that things will be better. Makes ya wonder what a terrorist has to do to get some credit these days. They do all the hard work, but someone else gets all the credit.
Once again wee willy wonka thinks up another clever wordplay But maybe just maybe if I try hard and am "willing to make the necessary effort". I can be a wee willy wonka to and play with my little tonka too. What a level of arrogance. Still avoiding the actual points huh?
The original post made an issue of 100,000 people attending an anti-war protest. Just to put that into perspective, I just heard on the news that 400,000+ people showed up for the Gay Fetish Festival in San Francisco. As someone who has traveled around the planet more than three dozen times, including visits to several Islamic countries, I invite anyone who really believes that this is a terrible country to move anywhere else. Please. Pay attention to the news, even through their highly biased reporting it is evident that the majority of Iraqi casualties are being caused by radical Iraqis and outside agitators. Stop drinking the cool-aid, take off your rose-colored glasses, kick off your sandals, and view the world as it really is.
Wait... the U.S. is awful. It's terrible here. People are lining up by the hundreds... no... the thousands... no... the millions to escape to free Canada. We're going to bring back the draft any day now. George Bush II is going to cancel the U.S. Constitution and declare a monarchy. All minorities will be persecuted -- especially Brits! The practice of all non-Christian religions will be outlawed. We cancelling Christmas, closing Hollywood, and making it so that only natural-born citizens can become taxi drivers. Now will you go anywhere else instead?
youre right, read my previous post about numbers.. [/QUOTE] I never said anything of the sort + I dont think there is anything wrong with the people on the whole. That comment by willy i show clearly is not true.. there are plenty of people here who know that
