If you're referencing way back when I suggested that a chemical imbalance in the brain, might possibly have an effect on people's actions, that is not excusing them. That's just trying to find the underlying reason (and ultimately cure) for the actions of these people.

I cannot understand those guys who counts faults of other society or country like iraq.

Do we have less number of crimes than any other country?
do we have lowered rate of rape/hour ?

How does everyone feel about giving 1st time child molestors a minimum of 25 years with no early outs?

 

I agree, with DNA and other techniques having come so far, it's getting increasingly difficult to find your way out of a crime. OJ got off, so it's not fool proof. In fact, has been used to free innocent people as well.

What "tweak" do you feel is needed?

Simply something such as a higher standard than a guilt verdict. Any doubt, no real evidence and it gets sent to a standard guilt verdict but leaving the possibility for the death penalty if such proof needed for the death penalty surfaces.

Maybe not a perfect solution, but worked out correctly I believe it could reduce innocent being put to death, put those at ease a bit against the death penalty, and possibly even increase the number of those put to death in the long term. I'm not for increasing it, but a better standard would stop the trend of people sitting on death row for ever.
