As usual, even though I'd love to, I can't totally disagree with you. I hope it wasn't the hangover that made you say quite a few reasonable things.
Nobody loves wars.Except Bush and party. Now i think situation is very clear. No mass destrucion weapons nothing else. But army has ruined the peace of that whole area. And now Iranian presidant is asking to wipe out Israel. This is all post-war affects. And more to come.
How do you know that Bush loves war? You're blaming the war for Iran being anti-Israel? They have been anti Israel ever since the state got established in 1948.
Bush has started two wars in his tenure. So he may be called as King of Wars. These wars were utmost important for America's interest. At lease Afghanistan war can be justified.Though Iraq war cannot be justified now because there were no mass destruction weapons.
...and they're getting ready to carry out the job! Question: what is the world going to do when they have nuclear bombs? a) pretend they don't have it b) send UN inspectors to check forever on a double paid job (paid both by UN and by Iran) c) forget Israel and leave them to face the menace d) invade Iran (wtf, we still have to tackle Syria!) e) elect Hillary and let her solve the problem, she's going to be great at it, imagine her with fiery lipstick in talks with the white bearded ayatollahs, what a wonderful tea-party that would be! f) blame Bush because he didn't do anything about it g) blame Bush because he caused it h) blame the women in Iran, because they wanted it i) ......come on add yours.......
If iran will get nuclear bombs.I am sure it will not waste time to throw it on Israel.Very bad it should be stopped.
Mike Why do you always have to come up with these false claims about history? His (Mohammad Reza Pahlavi) policies led to strong economic growth during the 1960s and 1970s but at the same time, opposition to his autocratic rule increased. His good relations with Israel and the United States were moreover a reason for fundamentalist Islamic groups to attack his policies. Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (Shah of Iran) Also look at the history of Iran_Iraq war. Israel was the middle man that USA used to provide Iranian with weapons. USA will sell parts to Israel and Israel in turn will sell it to Iran. Middle eastern politics is much more complicated than a simple minded generalization about religion or way of life.
Exactamundo. The anti Israel forces always seem to triumph in that part of the world. It seems too simple, but isn't that the reality. If you are good with Israel, you will have enemies. There are always good apples such as Saddat, but we all know how long they stay in power.
Not true again. In late 70's Shah in Iran was facing different Armed struggle inside his country and the biggest group was actually a Marxist group. His support base was only the rich and upper middle class in the Iranian Society. At a same time Shah was dying from Cancer and was very reluctant to use of force against the opposition. USA already knew from previous experiences like Cuba that such governments with limited support in society and no idealogical base to stand on will fail sooner or later. There was a theory in the USA administration at time that in order to stop soviet union expansion toward the Persian Gulf, a green line or Islamic line of defense should be established at Soviet border with strong Islamic and Anti-Communist base. The member countries of this new policy were, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and other small countries in Persian Gulf. The so called Iranian revolution or change of power in Iran was direct result of above American forigen policy.
Was it Bush's fault? Oh, sorry, he wasn't in power at the time. Doesn't it seem like ages that the Bush family is in power? I'm sure something should be done about that. So they did nothing to help the Soviets! Not very wise, huh?
I see what you mean, the problem at that level is not getting things right, assuming he did make mistakes, it's doing better than his counterpart in the elections, that is Kerry. If you think Kerry would have done better, fair enough, we'll never know if that's true. I am pretty satisfied with this administration, even though they could have done better with hindsight, but I feel that way maybe because they are not completely administering my life, as I spend only a few months a year in the US. So, we are left wondering.....
Who are you ? to decide who is guilty of and who is not.Who has given right to america to decide any war without consensus of United Nations. There is complete setup of United Nations. And what do you think America is winning the War? I know saddam is a bad guy.But it doesn't justify attack on the country ruled by him.
Hello!!!!!!!!! United Nations delegates got paid off. I don't put my future into the hands of corrupt people. Edit: I was going to be polite because I've just lost 25 points with red rep (what the heck is going on?) and was trying to be more of a team player, but you know what?: Fuck the UN. They are doing nothing of purpose anymore. If you look up to them to do anything beneficial, you will wait forever.
is it "your" justification of war on iraq? Iraq is a country. If there is some problems with Saddam then it doesn't mean to impose war on iraq. And one another thing if somebody from Arab world say that we have problems with George Bush and America has Mass Destruction Weapons then "What we will dO?".
We have rights here, Lynda. We don't have public executions, we don't have major violations of human rights in our country. We have trials, we have freedom of speech. You don't seem to understand what life in Iraq has been like. What we are doing is something good. Did you or your ancestors ever live under oppression or in fear? I love how people try to turn things around. If you think we are so bad, do you think if this forum was run in an Islamic nation, you would be able to express your opinions like I am doing? What sense of justice do you have? people were living like animals over there. Many are dying now, but don't you think it opens the door to a new beginning? I don't like the war, but I rather see something done than watching UN delegates stroking each others on TV without ever doing anything but put up smoke screens. But then again, if you compare Bush to Saddam, you are lost. You obviously have no sense of what is right and what is wrong. Maybe you should live somewhere like Morrocco for a while and then tell me that life is "not that bad".
Miranda Don't be angry with Mike. he is not a bad guy, his biggest fault is his lack of knowledge about history but when you inform him about it, he accepts and quietly leaves. There are some others that are much worse than him including a real fascist that you will notice soon enough if you stay around and participate in the discussions. Red reps will not solve anything either and while I get many red reps (almost all of them from 3-4 resident idiots), I will not red rep others since it shows lack of argument to discuss your ideas intelligently.
