This is what you sound like:
"when did iraqis last experience christ and christianity? They just aren't used to it. They don't know it's for their own good."

You can't force things on people that don't want it. They aren't going to no matter how many of them you kill or how long you occupy their land. They will die first.

In democracy, you can choose as every single individual counts as any other.

As long as your a majority, you can choose to have someone in chief with full powers, or maybe not, it's up to you.

In a dictatorship, you don't get to choose...

Democracy isn't something you get instantly, you build it. The US AND the others are providing plenty of building materials and instructions (tutorials, how tos, FAQ, step by step, etc :) ), it's up to them to create and consolidate democracy as quick as possible. It'll take less than for most of the western countries which had no help from outside.

About corrupt candidates that's your opinion, I don't know them but it's not the point.

There are corrupt people and democracy isn't perfect anywhere in the world.

    :)

So we've spent billions of dollars and caused thousands of deaths for a government iraqi's don't want and don't know how to run. "its up to them" to create democracy as quick as possible? Ummm... you mean it's up to the people occupying their country to set up a fake democracy for them, then cheat them out of all their resources as payment....

As for corruption gos i suggest you do some reading:

How to make a democracy for dummies:

    1- Occupy a country.
2- Put anybody who disagrees with occupation in prison.
3- Choose couple of local puppets and have an election.
4- Make a lot of business deals with local puppets that are ready to sell their country and take as much as you can.
5- Call this making a democracy and shoot anyone that does not agree. :D

How to leave a dictator in place for dummies:

    1- Don't remove the dictator
2- Leave all the political prisoners in jail
3- Choose a bunch of dictator puppets and have dummy elections
4- Make a lot of business deals with those that avoid the international embargo such as the French, the Germans and the Russians at the expense of your people
5- Call this the..., the..., mmm... oh yes! Allah's will! And of course torture, rape and kill those that don't agree or those that you simply don't like!:D

They are learning the difference between freedom and dictatorship, it'll take a lot more but do freedom and peace come free?

As for the corruption, after centuries of that crap you can't expect them to wake up one morning and think or say: oh dear, the americans are here, we are not corrupt anymore...it'll take years to let them think and act differently, in the meanwhile every step forward is good, on a day per day basis.

If you don't agree, never mind, that's what's happening anyway, even if you stay in the way of the path to democracy, being the enemy within...

I just absolutely love those who try to bring the part in bold above up to bash, discredit, etc those particular countries. Which country supported Saddam when he was actively slaughtering his citizens? The good ole US of A, a little corruption though in oil for food 'which I am against as well' but lets beat it like a dead horse.

For those who are so pro Iraq democracy which does sound fine and peachy when you say it, do you honestly understand that those gaining power and their beliefs could very well be worse than Saddam himself? What are we going to do and or say if those with their extreme religious views 'the ones it appears Iraqi's' want in office fully gain power and unleash their hell onto their people.

I to hope that democracy can and will be good for the Iraq people. But to wage on argument on purple ink, voting, democracy realy is very premature as even if the process was a true democratic process what is being unleashed could very well be far worse than the butcherer himself!

Speaking of someone who got owned and shut up...nice to see you again! I figured you were applying for a government job that needed a security clearance so you could betray our country.

Everyday, innocent people, eh? Not my place to defend their actions. Write your Congressman. Be sure and include that "everyday innocent people" part when you do :D

I understand I "could very well" be on a plane that is hijacked by terrorists some day.

But I am still going to fly.

I was not talking about actual weapons, support of Saddam, or do you actually dispute the US supported Saddam back before the first gulf war?

True, however do you understand that it 'could' get worse in Iraq and not better than under Saddam?

Nope, don't dispute it. I'm fully aware that allies do not agree to be allies forever, on either side. I also understand who was giving him the most support.

I also understand that it "could" get worse. I also understand it "can" be better. I also understand inaction isn't always the best course of action.

I understand that as well, and glad to see that you can at least agree that we did support.

Yes inaction is not the best course, but again glad to see you state you understand it 'could' get worse.

hrblcantra, I often agree with you in part, a lot more than with others with similar political views.

But about the support for Iraq, it wasn't a support anyway, it was avoiding a dangerously powerful Iran. And most nations at the time were happy that way, including the Soviet Union that could not allow Teheran to develop into a threat while located very close to Russia.
Only China would support, finance and arm the Ayatollahs. But just for its own political interests.
So that is what it was all about.

    As simple as that.

BTW, right now Iran is trying to expand into Iraq, as they are stepping up their support for terrorists in the south and that's why the Brits are in danger.
Not because they want democracy for Iraq, but because Iran want a share of the territory...them nice people....
