    I have tried many free anti virus packages but finally settled with avast. The home edition of avast is free and the protection is very good.

    No software is good.my computer is flooded with a Virus called DOWNADUP Worm.. I have tried all antivirus softwares like NOD 32, AVG, AVAST etc...But of no use..All of them could detect the virus..but can not delete it...

    An updated anti virus+common sense is the best way to avoid virus/malwares/trojans. If youre looking for FREE anti virus, I recommend you to use AVG , you can download it here http://www.avg.com/ , take note you update it daily for full protection ;)

    AVG is the way to go when It's free. Kaspersky and NOD32 are good AV also. I'm using AVG now, it serves me well.:)

    I am a big fan of AVG free edition, if u use AVG free with zone alarm free version along with ad-aware free verion, it's much better than u have the complete paid version, just my 2 cents LOL

    but I definitely am keen on freeware because paid ware are just too messy for me.
