have just heard that there is to be a large anti-government demonstration by students and other members of the public in tehran this weekend, near shahyad, or the 'azadi' building, prompted by the treatment of students demonstrating outside an iranian university where ahmadinejad was speaking. this was transmitted by an iranian station that is anti-government, based in los angeles, so whether or not it makes the news headlines in the west remains to be seen, for the iranian government will operate a blackout of all media stations, and prevent any journalists from going anywhere near the area where the demo is to take place. will keep you posted as to how it progresses.
