This thread spawned after reading some of the other "religion" threads in this forum and also about the spaghetti monster thing which made me literally laugh out loud, and just thought i'd reveal a few personal beliefs i myself have. I call myself a christian, which in itself is not a religion, but a word meaning one with christ. In fact The word christian is only found in the bible a few times. Why am I a christian? it is by faith. Not raised in a christian home, but looked into the scriptures for myself. The Creation of the World by God and the Redemption of Man by Jesus Christ paying for sins connects the most with me and my views on myself as a person and views about people in general. There is alot of things that dont make sense and are mysterious, but again, I am a Christian by faith. I basically acknowledge that I don't need to have all of the answers...for the most part though, i believe christianity is fairly logical in most aspects. I don't believe in macro evolution or intellegent design theory which i personally believe poorly tries to conform to macro evolution when the scriptures plainly contradict the idea of the world being more than a few thousand years old. There is alot more to why some christians feel like they need to debate the age of the earth than most people think. I won't go into details, If you're actually interested http://www.answersingenesis.org has alot of biased, yet good information and scientific research. It is not difficult for me to outweigh faith in scriptural authority over faith in "macro evolution" which In my mind is ludicrous. faith in evolution is ultimately faith in nothing, Thus declaring yourself God and I don't want to declare myself God. I feel like I suck, In fact i know i suck and don't mind admitting that i don't have all the answers. As a christian, I believe that ultimately everyone believes they suck. We may communicate otherwise verbally but i believe that people are really not happy being their own God. Why do I believe this, again, because the scriptures say "The fool says in his heart there is no God." and because I can openly say that I'd feel like a fool to say there is no God. Also, since i call myself a christian, i have to believe this because Christ himself says that when he comes back people will be judged and not be able to defend the reasons they have for un belief, obviously its saying that unbelief is lying to urself. People will be ashamed and go to hell knowing exactly why. Again, I am a Christian and this is some scripture reference. If you're a Christian you have to believe in hell. This post wasn't meant to give Christianity much justice as i pretty much rambled and may not have made sense. Not the best writer, but was bored. If you would like to read some similar scientific research on 7 day Creationism you can visit http://www.answersingenesis.org I acknowledge that this site explains natural or materialistic events by holding biblical scripture as authority. I don't think this is any less science than macro evolution because it also comes to the table with a presuppostion or authority in mind which logically doesn't hold water. I say this as a christian. The fact that God never ends doesn't make sense to me. The fact Hes always been doesn't make sense to me. The fact the he is omniscient doesn't make and logical sense either. At the same time, it doesn't make sense to say matter generated from no matter. It doesn't make since to say I, or you as a person is worthless, which without god in the picture, we are absolutely meaningless, and If i want to say you're a dumbass piece of shit, thats fine, because You don't matter. Anyways, this isn't really meant to be much of an argument thread, mainly a link to answers in genesis, which i believe represents Creationist beliefs fairly well. If you want to attack christian beliefs at least know what they are and why they are or should be that way. Again, Christianity is an individual faith and as a Visual Body of People, doesn't really matter that much. People who continually attack "The Religion of Christianity" and the mass of people "claiming" to be christians obviously don't even know what "Christianity" is.
