    Hi,

Been reading around as much as possible but still learning..

I am left wondering, wouldnt an easier way of increasing backlinks into your website be by submitting your url to one of those sites who submit your site to many search engines/directories etc etc

    e.g: http://www.submitexpress.com/submit2500.html

    what are your thoughts?

no because those sites add it to search engines. Those search engines don't give you backlinks because it requires google to find the search page where your link shows up and many of those search engines are really crappy. They don't offer backlinks and google doesn't like indexing pages it considers to be search results. You could set up a link to the search engines page showing your link but it would require more time then it's work doing it for 2500.

The only value in those submit to 25000 search engines is the traffic it may bring. Most of those search engines get no traffic, but if you're lucky you may come across one that delivers niche traffic and that's what you should be using those services for - direct traffic, not for seo links.

Depends om your motive really. Are building more links to increase the visitor flow to your website or are you just trying to somehow get some green on Google's spyware toolbar.

You believe in " Google is the man" and therefore I would like to apprise you that Google recently amended its guidelines and dropped directory submission from it. For search engine submission, I really don't see the need. Search engines spiders will come find you and if want it really quick just drop a link in any of the top rated social media website and your job is done.

You'd be better off building relationships with existing website owners with other relevant (hopefully non-competing) websites. Ask to trade them a service or advice for putting your link on their site.

It's better to manually submit your site because you have more control on your submissions which means you can choose properly where your links will be placed.

Blah.. Blah.. Directory Submissions make no sense anymore.. with recently Google removing out from their guidelines. I am not against Directory Submission, submitting to 100s ot 1000s of directory submission makes no sense.. its not about getting No of backlinks.. its about getting No of 'Quality' backlinks.

I've never done any directory submission or article submission for my blog and I still rank for good terms and get 5k+ visitors every month though I don't do much to promote. Have a quality site.... maintain a good IA...populate fresh contents on your blog.. be active in Social Media.. the rest will follow you!

    Just my opinion... Cheers!

    Silincon is right..
Submitting to search engines doesn't send you backlinks.
If you wanna get backlinks, add your link to social bookmarking sites or blogs.
