I have a proxy site that at the beguining did good.

now i'm having issues with traffic quality (I get a lot of asians who are leeching my resources downloading dvx and other huge files... basically pron)

I don't have anything against any user so i optimize my VPS to aviod crashing and stuff... but lately i found out that mostly of my USA/Europe traffic were gone and these asians rally mess up things... up to the point that i earned nothing in a couple of days.

since this is my first attempt to make a business of a website and I do realize I didn't made anything as it should (keywords and seo optimization and others stuff now i know) i decided to shut down the server for a couple of days and release an optimized version with more restrictions regarding downloading files and stuff.

Is it a good idea to shutdown the server and start over?
    what will be your opinion??

I'll like to hear what you think about it.

You could block the IP ranges of those countries you do no want using your proxy.

When it comes to proxies, shutting down the server could be a very bad thing. There are thousands of free proxies out there. If people see your site down, they'll move over to another proxy. They won't return.

I didn't think or that part... damn!

    basically is the quality.
these people is not willing to see your ads.. besides they will leech your resources since their internet access is regulated by government.

in other words, once they find a proxy site that works... they will use it to download dvd's, xvids mp3 and others (that's basically what they are doing) crashing the server.

You can restrict the maximum file size that can be loaded through your proxy. If you're using PHProxy, open index.inc.php and look for something like

    number_format($GLOBALS['_config']['max_file_size']/1048576, 2) . ' MB
    Code (markup):
and set the maximum file size.

China is not Asia. Japan is just as liberal.

Anyways, asian traffic clicks are worth less since they tend not to convert for the advertiser.
