Another strange law

A guy is fined because he park 6 cars in front of his house while the law allow a maximum of 4. The 2 more cars he has parked are of his sons that sometimes comes to visit him.

That sounds really silly to me..

There is a law that says that u can have only 4 cars there, so it's not that important how long it is.
    Maybe with a bigger garage

Where I used to live there was a law that you could only have 2 cars in a 4 car drive way, but it's only illegal if your neighbors rat you out :)

The reasoning behind it is so that people can make a U-turn by using your drive way, but there will always be someone on a street with enough empty spots for that!

not often, but if someone breaks in my house I could shoot them, problem is I don't have a gun, so they would end up dying much slower....

Sometimes. But in most localities it is illegal unless you can prove your life was in danger. Plenty of people have gone to prison for killing burglars.

    shoot != kill
You can shoot to both legs for example
    Then you call the police.
The problem is that he'll dirty your carpet with blood.

It is my understanding that laws prohibiting you from exercising the right to defend your home and property with potentially deadly force are unconstitutional in the USA.

Your understanding is incorrect. Try to shoot somebody that is stealing your car, and see what happens to you.

especially in California where the laws protect the criminals.

There have been lawsuits where a thief gets hurt while in someones house and wins - california of course...

Here in Oregon, if you shoot someone that has broken in your house you are usually fine.

It is 100% illegal in the US to shoot or attempt to kill someone who is robbing you. There may be exceptions if they were holding a gun to your head or trying to kill you, otherwise you will be arrested.

Hey if anyone is a threat to me or my family I don't care what the law is, I HAVE TO take out that threat. It isn't a choice. I won't stand by while someone hurts someone I love, so some prison time my not hurt me.... J/K

If they just run in your house and grab your refrigerator and run out with it and you try to kill them being arrested and in jail for a few years would hurt your family more than the robber would. If he ran in and grabbed your wife and put a gun to her head and you shot him you would have a low chance of going to jail, but it is possible to still be arrested.

Do you think I am going to ask if they are here to steal or kill? Sorry, I don't care what you came in for - you are a threat if you broke in. That shouldn't be hard to understand, yet California does have a hard time with common sense.

Just because laws are on the book does not mean that they are constitutional. In California they have been trying to ban any kind of gun use all over. I have a right to keep and bear arms in the protection of my person, my family, and my property. If someone enters my house without my permission and I tell them to freeze and identify themselves or I will shoot, and they make a sudden move, off goes the gun. They have already committed an act of destruction of proporty that borders on violence by breaking an entering. That sudden move may be them reaching for a gun. The definition of self defense is that you have a reasonable fear for your life. If someone that broke into my house makes a sudden move and it looks like they are reaching for a weapon, and I shoot, I have just defended myself based on the reasonable fear that a robber is likely armed.

I may very well be arrested, but I will also likely either be released by the police, or acquitted based on the fact that I acted in self defense.

If someone is fleeing my home and it is obvious that is all they are doing, it is not self-defense to shoot them.
