Another step towards Police State?

    Got this in an email.

Can someone confirm that with reliable source.

I saw video of a 7 year old white kid with his parents getting strip search on a airport. Do they even have common sense on how can a 7 yr old or 60 yr old with external bladder due to medical condition be any threat except for urinating on a floor in emergency.

Unfortunately this measures are necessary due to the fact that the attacks have shown that there is nothing holy to the Jihadist . So if there will be even the smallest security breach they will mercilessly exploit it to slaughter the innocent . As for the police state don't worry the US population is too well armed to fall into censorship let alone a police state .

It's in the news, however, I don't have what I would consider a reliable source. But, it appears they do have a grant (and have had one for several years) for bus security.

You might be surprised to know, but roughly 50% of Americans are in support of this (not particularly those specific examples, but in general). I'm not. I believe it goes too far, and is in violation of our fourth amendment constitutional right against unreasonable searches. I think it's giving up too much of our freedom, liberty, and dignity, for what I would consider a false sense of security. If someone wanted to blow up a plane, I think they could stick an explosive in a body cavity. But, why even a plane? Any place that has a large amount of people could be a target. If they have nude scanners and TSA agents groping passengers at airports, the next logical step would be bus stations, trains, subways, and possibly even sporting events, concerts, shopping malls...

Isn't it hilarious when Pakistani Muslims complain that the U.S. is implementing security?

Next they are going to campaign that the U.S. should give student loans to Muslims attending suicide bombing school. :p

I was thinking exactly the same thing! I hate the scanners, but when certain people complain about them, I think they may be necessary. Maybe what wmghori is actually calling for is racial profiling.

I got a 1 yr old kid and I have plans to visit my family in Chicago in summer. Hopes that clears up my motives.

    Implementing security or taking freedom?
Ain't religious profiling already in place? Why strip search elderly, children or women. I don't mind the pat downs when I go through airports or govt./public buildings because I fit the profile of 17-40 age plus I have a beard. But when I'm with my family they never stop me. Local LEOs have a common sense to know that terrorists don't travel with family.

To my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong) so far after 9-11 any terrorist attempt to blowup a plane is stopped by the passengers not the TSA.

The fact they are strip searching children tells me there isn't a whole lot of profiling of any sort going on. I'm sure they appreciate your advice on the profiling, even if they are too PC to follow it. At this point, I suspect profiling will be resisted if for no other reason than the fact the TSA represents a jobs program.

The TSA has caught people trying to get onto planes with unapproved items though I haven't heard of them actually preventing a plot in progress. Richard Reid was before the TSA, but his explosive device failed. Mutallab was after the TSA, but flew out of Schipol, so the TSA were irrelevant. His explosive device failed as well. It seems terrorist stupidity is at the forefront of the measures protecting our flights.
