I have a client that I just came across using Page Titles, but also using Meta Titles. I'm assuming there is little to no value for the Meta Title? I just want to make sure I don't put my foot in my mouth, and I haven't heard anyone talk about Meta Titles in some time... Thanks. Toonces51
The only meta content I would include for SEO purposes would be keywords and description. They are borderline insignificant, but there's no harm. The description can also be used in the SERPs.
You assumed right Toonces, there is no value (or very very very very little IF there is) for meta titles. On the other hand, anything that goes between these two tags: <title> </title> are valued alot in serps. off topic: montux <b> doesn't work in <title> ... i don't think title tags can be forced bold, unless the user has that set in his/her personal settings.
Even though there's no value or not much value in the meta tags I would still suggest using them as it's not that much work and some search engines might at least use them to describe your website in the SERPs (even Google sometimes).
any meta tag apart from description & keywords are a waste of KB and just add to page loading time and bandwidth loss.
Thanks for all the feedback. I think some people at the client just got confused as to the difference between <title> and meta title/meta description. Toonces51
Keywords tags is not of much use as i noticed. The only thing that is important is using title tag effectively (putting your keywords in title) and description so that google can find what your site is about and show them to your visitors.... after all those are people who you are looking too.
