If guns are banned in the US its going to lower the crime rate people are not going to stop shooting people its just going to lower. - Prilep
While it's true that people kill people and not guns themselves, gun control or outright banning is a must. Guns are produced to kill: that's a fact. If we aren't interested in killing, we need to get rid of the guns. You can have hordes of socially inept and troubled kids, but without guns, the opportunities for easy killing and easy suicide are almost non-existent.
One. Taking guns away is not the solution. People die in car wrecks, we don't take away cars. People die in hospitals, we don't tear down the hospital. Two. Guns are not sold in supermarkets. Most states have requirements for purchasing guns. In Texas, when you go to buy a gun, they do a background check. Three. Taking guns away is exactly what criminals want. A disarmed public so they can more easily commit crimes. A public that cannot fight back, a public left at the mercy of those who would never obey a "no guns" law anyway. Four. Here in the US, we have the right to keep and bear arms as afforded to us by the Second Amendment of our Constitution. Solution. Consequences and proper home training. Parents who do keep guns need to take more responsibility for doing such, keep them locked away and out of easy access to children/teens. Next, parents need to spend more time with their kids, teaching them right vs wrong and build strong moral values. Kids need consequences. Make a threat, do five years. Bring a gun to school, do ten years, etc. When you make the consequences of someone's actions hurt, they think twice about doing such.
I summon Gtech to carry out this tired old fallacious argument made by people who don't even live in the USA. You go ahead and ban all the guns in Canada and Australia for all I care - just leave us out of it. Edit: holy crap - it worked. I typed this out before Gtech posted.
In 1995 there were 97,460 rapes reported to law enforcement officials. At a 16% reporting rate, this means that there were actually closer to 649,733 rapes in the United States. Along the same lines, the number of rapes reported in New York state in 1996 was 20,911. At a 16% reporting rate, this means the actual number of rapes was closer to 139,406. (Computerized Criminal History, Feb. 1998) http://sa.rochester.edu/masa/stats.php All sorts of murders and crimes happen EVERY day. Check out the rape statistics . More women should be carrying small guns.
Ah yes, the land of the preemptive strike. "But officer... he looked like he was a threat" Your culture needs to change. Why not try and stop the violence instead of meeting it head on with more violence. The last thing the USA needs is more aggression. I really don't get the USA mentality. Fight fire with water.
Most school shootings have ended with the killer actually killing themself, but in this situation the killer hasn't been caught yet, at least when this report came out. Actually I agree with Jackuul for the most part. It's sad that people suggest that we ban guns simply because we cannot keep them away from the people who actually do the killing. And what's the reason? It's because of irresponsible adults and deadbeat parents that are clueless about what their kids are doing and what they're feeling.
