is there any possibility that this guy is not a scammer may be ? malcolm said he got paid, may be he just submitted to too many directories and he is really confused.
It would be nice to create a list of these loser's Websites that they are trying to submit somewhere, so we can catch them early. Thank you for the heads-up.
Yes it's possible. And even such was my impression from his emails. That's why I only kindly inform the owner about facts.
Good to see somebody on the ball. Most direrctory owners probably wouldn't bother replying to something like this. I certainly wouldn't.
funky, I will let you decide for yourself: Original Correspondence: Name: Ricky Collett Email: ricky "...@..." online-awareness.com Message 1: Hello I paid £4.51 for a link placement, which was submitted on the 18th of July 07. However, I am unable to find it in your directory? The link is for \'car finance\' and the URL is www.evanshalshaw.com Please advise Many thanks Response 1: Dear Ricky, Are you sure you have the correct directory? We do not operate any which are priced at £4.51. If you are certain it was with us, please can you provide me with the PayPal transaction reference number. Message 2: Hello Yes, sorry the amount was $9. It will be one of the below Paypal ID numbers: 3ET70020BL267121S or 1PV25516D5364260K Thanks Ricky Response 2: Hi Ricky, I have searched our PayPal account for both transaction ID's which you provided and both of them give me an 'Invalid transaction id' error message. I have also checked our PayPal email receipts and we do not have any sales on the 18th of July which match your details. I have checked our entire network for your domain and email address and cannot find any record in any of our directories either free or paid. Furthermore, the prices you have quoted do not match with our systems. We charge in GBP and niether the $9 or the £4.51 figure match with the prices we charge for review on any of our directories. I can safely say that your web site has not been reviewed by our network as part of the review process requires me to visit the web site and I don't recall ever seeing the web site which you submitted. I really can't think of anything else at this stage which I can do to help without having a valid transaction ID for PayPal. I would advise that you open a PayPal transaction dispute which will allow you to contact the directory owner directly through PayPal and clarify exactly where you submitted your web site and the status of that submission. Message 3: Thanks for this. Will look into it. Regards Ricky Todays Correspondence: Name: Radek Email: lasso99 "...@..." gazeta.pl Message: Hello, i have recently added a website www.evanshalshaw.com to ypur directory. It hasnt been accepted and i was wondering why. It seems to be relevant, ypu do have an automotive category. Awaiting your response, thanks So, big difference between first and second but same tactic.... I will let Malcolm confirm if it was / is the same person or not.
It never ceases to amaze me the lengths some will go to get something free. I appreciate the heads up!
mmm to be honest, from his messages i really cant tell if he is a scammer or a confused person ,but if its really a scam attempt then this scammer is really stupid. cheers.
Hello.... Well look at what happened to me the other day with "mr goodfox" and the bidding directory... Im a directory owner and i got confused so whos to say a customer wouldnt... Im not defending anyone just saying that if i think i submitted and paid and dont see my review or anything then id contact that directory much like he did and make inquires. http://www.evanshalshaw.com http://www.driveawaycarfinance.co.uk/ Both of these sites are his and like i said hes been paying our review fees in Cash and now e-check I havent had any problems yet so.... (knock on wood) thx malcolm
Malcolm, But is it the same person... I mean the guy who submitted to you could have been the owner of the site and the person(s) submitting to me may have been an SEO company. Did the emails I posted match anything with your transactions?
Business Name: Online Awareness Limited (The sender of this payment is Non-U.S. - Verified) Email: Removed so that it dont get spammed.... Item Title: Link to http://www.driveawaycarfinance.co.uk and today he started submitting the http://www.evanshalshaw.com site.... Both sites are being submitted from same person....(atleast here) thx malcolm
Hmmm interesting, will have to keep an eye on it. Seems very odd to get two emails pretty much the same from two different people regarding a submission that never was.
I don't understand why someone would go through all this trouble just to be included in a web directory.
If the PayPal payment IDs do not match up, why would anyone fall for this? Hopefully people actually check them when requested... Either way, thanks for the information!
This is absolutly amazing. Thank you for the warning. Usually this kind of situation can be easilly tracked but they are getting better lol
As Mario said, it can be from a confused person who doesn't have any record where he has submitted. But if that would be the case, he should have checked his email as almost every paid directory do send a notification. That makes it interesting. Seems like we are dealing with two "confused" people ... Inquiring about one site from two different emails/names certainly raise a red flag.
