Another Quibble

Ok Shawn, as you know I tend to get impatient with some of the people who quibble about the accuracy of your tracking tool.

But now it's my turn to complain -- not really complain, just point out a small inaccuracy.

The default search is set to a depth of 100. If you have a keyword in say 50th place and it drops out of the top 100 you report -9950. However I just changed my preferences to search 200 deep and discovered keyword for which you had reported -99xx were in fact in the range between 100 and 200. So they had not dropped by 99xx places as you reporting would seem to indicate. The have only dropped something less than 200 places.

I guess the opposite would apply if a word climbs into the top 100. You would show 99xx when in fact the word may have only advanced a few pages to break into the top 100.

Not really possible to fix though since the system only looks as deep as your preferences are setup to go.

Yes. That's what I thought. But it was a good thing to search 200 deep. I've got a couple of new sites that I'm fighting to improve for a couple of very competitive keywords. I was feeling a little deflated that these terms had even shown up yet. But in fact they have. They are now in the top 200.

So that gives me some encouragement and lets me know at least that I'm on the right track.
