Without a doubt this is a true statement. To many of the older directories are just living off their name. I'm not saying that those directories are no good they are still quality directories, but they should keep doing what got them there in the first place.
well, losing PR happens only it gets penalized. It's not about stop building links. You can lose PR while building links, too. If you lose a domain PR, I am pretty sure this is rather a heavy penatly on PR. Inner page PR can go up and down sometimes without losing your position in SERPs.
It's because once you reach PR7, you are stepping into "authoritive" zone. I seriously think Google starts check on your site once you get PR5. Possibly they like to penalize more on sites with PR5 or higher. Some suggest that you should never try to get PR8 for your site because you have more chance to be penalized. After Big daddy, Google seems to be more aggressive to penalize sites. So, I actually slowed down link building as I used to. I don't feel too safe for my site to get PR7 too soon. Well, that's how I SEO anyway.
Well i will agree with you on this supposed "authoritive zone" that Google does when it gives a pr6+ i think as if it didnt it would totally go against the origanal idea of the page rank in the first place. I dont think that google seeks to punish any site because it gets a high PR but rather that the website changed to some extent whether link building or whatever little asset got them thier in the first place. As for your PR8 theory........ pfffft Send me a PR8 and let me test it out for 3 months Please! I would be retired soon after words or very well to do...believe that! thanks malcolm
I still intend to believe that Google become more conservative on PR values. http://www.seocompany.ca/ (promoting well) was PR8 before this update and now is PR7.
All this talk about PR makes my head dizzy… For example I considered unique valuable content, to be far more important than google PR. What is the use of having 1 PR8 page full of content that is already on 1,000 other pages. Why people lose so much time improving PR and not making new interesting content….
ahhh cut it out...!ask! Google just dont like ya you pissed them off...lol just kidding man, We both know the value of $$$ or should i say $PR$... thx malcolm
I can not complain on terms of PR, tell me how many directories you know have PR5 detail pages, not many But nevertheless my opinion about PR doesn’t change.. Yes, You are right normally PR means more money for links, but this only happens because the uneducated majority of submitters that think it’s a good think to submit to a site with high PR and don’t look at other more important factors.
ok ill buy that for a buck..... Agreed im a PR chaser i wont say im not, and as long as PR is used by google ill be chasing it like a dog chases his tail. thx malcolm
I opened this thread regarding PR... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=230628 Regarding Aviva and Alive, I think each website is free to have it's own policy as long as it's geared towards the end-user usability.
It's not that they seek to punish, but more like they start watching you closely. So that any obvious paid links could be devalued. Maybe it is not good idea to buy links from directories that advertise or promote as "paid directory". That's kind of too obvious and Google can catch such link buyers.
