    i have a friend who is running his site on a dedicated server, around $200 a month, and says he is making money off it, yet ive never seen a single ad on his site and he says he doesnt have any on there, all it is is a blog, no external links or anything, but hes making money somehow, is he pulling my chain or is there an actual way to make money off just plain traffic?

    unless he is selling ebooks or something like that, or as scoutz said getting donations off of his traffic, I don't know of any way he could be getting the money, unless he is reffering people to hosting or a business that he owns... But then maybe he has found the secret grail of the web world!!

    Maybe he is reffering to his potential money he is making.. lol Like he is sitting on an investment.. Perhaps he plans on selling the site eventually? Or as stated above, he is paid by people to just mention or refer products or services.

    Maybe he is posting other sites articles on his blog for money where a link of that site is then attached. Although this is really an ad in a way, your friend may think it isn't or something. He may mean ads like Adsense, YPN, etc.
