Another one of these popular 'why does my site rank...' Q's

    Hi Guys,

I just did a general search on google.co.uk restricting it to pages from the UK for the term 'Consort' (without quotes) and www.consortfrozenfoods.co.uk, the site i'm working on, came 76th.

Now looking through the results, I'm interested to know what the other 75 sites above me have that we don't. Why are they above us and so on.

If anyone could shed some light and maybe give me some pointers as to what to do about it I'd appreciate it.

Odd co-incidence I just ran a search restricted to the uk for inanchor:consort and you come in at number 76. Put simply you do not have enough backlinks to rankhigher. When I did a search for consort though, I didn't see your site at 76, maybe that was a datacentre thing though.

Sorry Ryan lol In my rush to say that he was way down the list of in anchor, I forgot to say what inanchor: actually does :D

Inanchor your keyword, will tell you what pages have that word in the anchor text of the links pointing to them. In your case you are way way down, and while it is possible to get a well designed and optimised outranking sites with more links, this is unlikely to happen from a position of 70+ in the order.

I'm not sure, but I think Google lists you based on how many people link to you or something like that. I basically don't know anything about SEO so I'm not sure, I just think I heard that somewhere.
