Another Keyword question from a noob

Is it ok to use multiple keywords on a site or do you wnat to stick with only a few like 3 of the best ones. Or is i ok to go after a bunch of different ones.

For example in my field of poker the searches im looking to go after are relatively easy to compete with. So lets say there is poker training, online poker, poker reviews, poker videos, how to play poker etc. All of these keywords would be relatively easy to overcome in google according to their site and generate solid searches per month.

So in theory I could be ranked high for 7 different searches and be visible to a wider array of people all looking for the same thing, poker.

I guess what im asking is, is it ok to have different content sections on a site or blog that targets specific keywords. For example: one page going after poker training, one going for free poker, etc etc

Or should I use the top 2 or 3 keywords and target those throughout my whole site?

    Thank you

YasirYar is correct. You need to target different keywords with different pages. Make sure the landing page you have for each keyword is written well and contains a 'call to action' to help convert people landing on that page. A conversion just means that someone does something you want them to because of the fact they landed on your page - e.g. they signed up to play poker.

A landing page should only target about 2 keywords. Plurals don't count though.

I'd think this is obvious. If you are building a poker based site, your reader and of course, Google would want something known as LSI keywords which are nothing but related keywords. So if you are making a site which has content based on your main keywords as well as LSI keywords, Google will rank you favorably because it knows that your site is offering varied content on that topic.

But of course you can't target all keywords on a single page. Ideally you'd take the best of them and form categories and then write separate content for different keywords under those categories.
