* Another Famous $100 48 hr PSD Only Contest: Architect! *

Hey Guys!

It's oneawesomeguy again with one of my 48 hour contests!

The website will contain the following pages when it is finished (this is for reference for the menu and to get a feel for what the website is about):
Home page: introduction/ welcome, photographs (scroller), ‘Call to Action’ (call infratec), information re: design and build process (headings linking to commercial or development page or another page).
Picture Gallery: in the following categories- residential/ commercial/ development. Includes photographs, plans and build information.
Contact page: direct clients to phone as main Call to Action. Inquiry form (with mini-questionnaire to qualify potential clients. price range, 1, 2 or 3 story house etc)
Build diary: Blog? To include images & a time line of comments on a project to keep clients up to date & also show potential clients what to expect during the build process
Commercial page: a showcase of commercial projects...
Development page: a showcase of development projects...

My favourite site is http://tinyurl.com/ow58pv
It is open and airy and in lots of ways what they do is very similar to what we do – except they are bigger. I particularly like the way it works when you go to “gallery” and then click on an image – this takes you to a detailed page with thumb nails down one side. You only have to hold the mouse over the thumb nails to display the large image which is easy compared to clicking all the time. Site is quick as well.

The other site I like is http://tinyurl.com/plna77
In particular the section “homes for sale” could work for us (we have just bought a development block and will have two houses for sale soon). The thumb nails need to be clicked on to display so I would prefer the way the signature homes site works.

One site I don’t like is http://tinyurl.com/q98n5m
I think it is very cluttered busy and I don’t like the colours or feel.

CONTEST DETAILS:
1. Submit entries for 48 hours from the time stamp on this post.
2. To be fair: No entries via PM and no late entries, please.
3. I will submit my thoughts on the designs throughout the contest. I will give thoughts on every single design.
4. Once 48 hours is up, I will review all entries and announce a winner. Just give me about one day.
5. Winner provides .PSD (or .XCF for GIMP users) file and fonts used. I will send $100 via PayPal and give positive iTrader if all goes smoothly.

RULES:
1. You must create the designs yourself. No templates. You must not use any images you do not have the right to use.
2. Only the winner agrees to transfer me rights to that design. I will not use any of the other designs and feel free to remove them from this thread once the contest is over.
3. You are free to put in watermarks to protect your work but make the watermark say "Sample".
4. By accepting the winnings, you agree to give me full rights to your design and you agree that you will not use this design for anything else.

The 48 hour deadline will be enforced as long as there are at least five entries. One person can submit as many entries as he or she wants.

SUGGESTIONS:
1. For images, check out iStockPhoto or similar sites and use their free comps. Only pay for the images if you win.
2. For colour combinations, check out colourlovers.com--an awesome website!
3. Do not do revisions on every little thing I mention. Seriously. If I really want something done, I will ask you specifically. No need to waste time. I have a good imagination.
4. If you can code your own design, let me know how much extra that would cost. This will not affect your chances of winning in any way.

Here is my entry. Hope you like it. I have tried to keep it clean, simple and effective. I will do unlimited revisions if you want. If you want I will create new logo and also can change the color of blue to any color of your choice.

@everyone: I loved the designs! I just noticed that nobody used the logo on the website. Granted, I did not specify this specifically... Can the people who submitted entries work that logo into the design somehow? Maybe make the website a little bit more like http://tinyurl.com/q3q5bm

Additional comments:
- We can't use the photos from the example sites I sent you... these are his direct competition & it won't go down well. Use the ones from the holding page [http://tinyurl.com/q3q5bm] or from stock websites
- we need to use the logo from the holding page in the design. It an established brand & won't be updated in this process.
- based on the holding page I was thinking that the menu would replace the contact details in the left bottom with in accessibility limits (800x600 screens)
- the technical drawing background & borders is something I would like to see thought the site.
- we would like BIG pictures... i would like to reduce the slider but this will reduce the image size.
- the reason i've use the horizontal centre is to reflect the logo design & it's 'blokyness'... if you can suggest something else...
- we need to make this a 'slick' & stylish as the signature homes site but different enough to show its a competitor & hold to the style of the logo branding... yep.. thats what i said... tall order! this is why i'm asking you guys for some input...

I liked ritesh2408's and stardesigns99's designs above due to
- the large images
- the larger contact details
- access to other photos

I will leave this contest open for 24 hours or so to see if anything happens. If anybody has any questions, please let me know!

 

I think it would me much easier if you'll provide us a .png version or a version with white bg of the logo..
