I've been reading various books on how-to write an ebook and all of them have something in common. They say that now is the time to write an ebook, which implies that time is running out. My question is when do you think ebooks will phase out and no longer be lucrative to write them? The reason I ask is due to the fact that i'm a perfectionist and it takes me awhile before I churn out what I feel is my best possible piece of writing. I understand it will be hard to quantify an answer to this but i also know that many people on this forum are a whole lot more tech and market savvy than me.
I dont think that ever ebooks time will be over because ebooks relates to knowledge and knowledge is never complete. so i dont think that there will be phase out of ebooks at any time
Ebooks are simply a convenient & popular way to present information. Until there is a better way, don't worry about ebooks being phased out. People are always looking for information online. As long as you can present what they want in the form of a 'marketable' ebook, it 'should' continue to be a lucrative business.
Yes, it's hard to answer. But ,why don't you start now..before "the time is running out"...or you feel better to wait till the "time is running out"??? BR, Adi
I agree with the previous posts here, an ebook is a great way to get a point across and teach people their weaknesses. Take seo for example, if you struggle with basic seo then a decent ebook will help you with it. You will have that to refer to over and over again which is priceless, just ensure that your ebook is "perfect"
eBooks will not be lucrative when people stop looking for fast information. Until that, go make that keyboard work. nadavs
As has already been said, e-books aren't likely to "die." People want immediate information, already compiled for them, and from sources they can trust. E-books give them that. They may change in the future (perhaps becoming more interactive for example), but I don't see them ever being completely replaced (at least in the foreseeable future).
Go to your bookstore. >>> Now head over to the magazine rack. No, not the blonde's rack! >>> See all the magazines? Now, ask yourself, how many years has magazines that repeatedly sell month after month been in existence? Now think about this...how many new Internet users are coming on board every...single...day? Don't worry about it. Just think about the blonde with the nice rack.
"Now is the time" is a common sales line. "Now is the time to buy X." "Now is the time to do X." "Now is the time, because I want to sell you on something and I need immediacy to do it, because I can't communicate better."
ebooks won't go away anytime soon. The key is having content that is relevant enough that people will pay for it.
Here is an ebook you can try if you like at www. killercopywritecourse .com it teaches about copywriting for yourself rather than hiring a copywrite
I agree with the other posters that there is no way the ebook will go by the wayside in the foreseeable future. As to your perfection, that is a breathe of fresh air when you consider all of the "junk" that is out there these days. Just make sure your perfection isn't holding you back. If you have something to say that is important for customers to hear then there has to be a balance. Holding the information in and never completing the work will not help you or the people who could potentially benefit from your ebook. Good luck! I adore writing ebooks for clients, and am beginning to write them for myself as well. They are a lot of fun to do and with your perfectionism you're sure to write a great one. The important thing is to start.
I don't think there's any better way to present information (EVERYONE wants info on something), easy to download, easy to store, no stock to carry, easy to update, excellent vehicle for carrying links; nah, they'll be around as long as IM is... icj
Okay. ebook will not die. There might be a better way to publish a book in future witch might be called something else. By the time you are done writing your content, if there is better way to publish a book electronically, transfer your ebook content to the newer method and publish.
Perhaps one other aspect of ebooks (and I say this as a former computer book magazine writer (PC/Computer, Lotus, Home Office Computer, Inc.) and as the author of a bunch of books (like Quicken for Dummies, etc)... ebooks have some advantages over pbooks which seems to me to argue for their longevity. For one thing, short length isn't an issue. (I can't think of how much times in regular publishing an editor said, "hey that's a great idea... and there would probably be a market... but it's too short to stock on a bookstore shelf...the spine won't be readable..) another advantage (at least to the publisher) is that you don't have the huge fixed cost of printing... and you have very low (relatively-speaking) revision costs... so the economics of publishing differ in obvious but surprisingly subtle ways.
What kind of ebook would you be writing? I also think ebooks are a great way to present information in a way that lets you keep updating it. But if you're writing an ebook in an area that already has a lot of competition it might be difficult to sell. Also, make sure you are writing about things that haven't already been said a million times, make sure it's original and that your readers will be happy with what they get.
Yes, I agree with the masses. I do not see ebooks dying any time soon(better not since I sell 10 of my own written ones!) What I do see is a lot of the same stuff being re-circulated. With the option for getting PLR material, some people are just making some slight changes to already created products, changing the book cover and author name and selling it again. I am getting to the point that when I see a product that reminds me in any way of another one, I steer clear. Cheers!
Well, ebooks are here to stay. people need immidiate information. And people want to earn money by giving some info., Well noi ebook has been beneficial to me till date.
Since the beginning of the year I only purchased 6 paperbooks and I even can't remember how many I got in PDF's and I'm very for eBooks instead of paperbooks. Using PDF ebooks think that you only need a laptop but how about paperbook, imagine the process involved, the energy consumed by the printing machine... this is why eBooks will never die. Not to mention that we have also AudioBooks. Good luck everyone and let's save this planet as much as possible, everyone one action a day can help the world! Robert
I see that eBay have now banned listings of digital download products with effect 31st March. The only way they can now be listed is via classified add which i think is $9.95 a month - these sales don't allow feedback so it's a bit of a blow for ebook sellers really!
