Another Dmoz Scandal that has totally taken me off my feet.

First of all before i begin. Thanks to the mod who welcomed me and the users who welcomed me back, i am touched and my friends list just got bigger :p. Does that mean more work for someone we all know ? :D

Anyways, Metas and few Editors are really trying to take down http://www.dmoz-resources.com/zone/ for good and making sure no one visits or knows we even exists, i was thinking of actually terminating the project after annies removal cause i was hurt with that decision. But this has motivated me to keep going, will try to do some promoting in upcoming months and all dmoz ex-editors and those who like to help others please do join the movement, the more members and users we have contributing the forum the more damage is done at R-Z.com itself than at Dmoz, more damage is inflicted than posting here at DP. There might be more traffic here but true community exists at http://www.dmoz-resources.com/zone/ which is hurting few for example motsa, Vbmain and other owners and admins and metas involved in bringing R-z.com online.

    Why ?

Well like other user do here while posting in directories section please read this Dmoz-Resources Post .

Enjoy and thanks for all supporters (if any for that website of mine, i do know who the friends are now at dp though, and thanks to those supporters too for a warm welcome even though via pms though cause of obvious fear from u know who :p:D)

I was gonna say that a site that uses DMOZ in its URL isn't gonna make the AOL legal department very happy. I haven't visited the site before so didn't know I had won (am winning?) an award there. "Most beloved and cuddley ex- dmoz editor.... " Using my DP handle brizzie not the ODP version of oneeye too. I think the poll should be closed now before someone nominates Annie and I lose at the final hurdle. That really would be a scandal. :D

Are you talking about this : http://www.dmoz-resources.com/zone/showthread.php?t=91

I do not see your name there brizzie or am i missing something out?

As per AOL i have tried contacting AOLS legal department but no replies yet, but i do not see why they will have issues cause dmoz is not a trademark and is not registered. And neither is my site anything similar to dmoz so they cannot have any issue on any grounds other than the fact if some evil meta joins aol :D:D

Why does anyone actually care about DMOZ Anymore,

There site has no value anymore in the serps, sorry guys but the value of a dmoz link is not what it used to be.....

I am just baffled on how people spend years , days , months and years even talking about this

There are some private directories like ariviva , sevenseek, alivedirectory and so many others that will give you way better weight...

Oh yea, and I know there will be 3000000 people ready to disagree with me and thats ok, it really is......

    Just my thoughts :)

Oops my bad sorry, i thought brizzie was talking about the current editors poll,

Oh dunno i cannot put annies name there as vb has no option to edit polls as of this date.

@sundaybrew dmoz in itself is not bad, its the stupid evil editors that are running it is ruining its image. Dmoz is just another directory, you think aviva or other directories you mentioned would be in good books if some terrorist ran the directory? Would you submit your sites there? Its not the companies name that makes a mark ,its the workforce involved that makes company what it is and how its known in the local market as well as global market.

You think anyone would even bother visit http://www.dmoz-resources.com/zone/ if i handed ownership to motsa (well haters would for sure but i doubt those interested in some real help wouldn't care) one shitty resource-zone.com is enough for that where motsa can play with herself and her ego all day long.

Its all about who runs what , and not just the name.

So there i did neither disagree nor agreed with your statement.

Well that is a good news. I don't think they have ever won a case and they usually lose very big. He should hope that AOL sue since most likely by the time the case is finished, he will be a multi millioner. :D

    Lol really? Cool.

I have been informed that actually mozilla might sue dmoz for using moz in the dmoz lol. So seems like sueing is for those who are already rich and i aint rich so dmoz at most will get the domain from me. But if they do plan to sue me , will see what i can cook up i suppose. There is dmoz-sucks domains and lots of other dmoz (domains) for example dmozkiller etc etc. Lets see who dmoz starts suing, they must have really big fat wallet to start sueing all the sites.

But anyways issue is not dmoz itself here, but the crazy nutcases (aka corrupt editors and wanabee editors who are doing suckup and begging like beggars to be either editor of extra category or metas themselves)
Its a shame that educated people with jobs are starting to beg like poor beggars via suck ups.:confused: Sorry situation.

The dmoz in the url is actually short for directory mozilla.

Sorry, bunny, I am gonna have to let someone else explain what it means. If I try, I will most likely post misinformation. But there is a history and a connection of the ODP and Mozilla which goes way back before AOL owned the directory.

Do they care? Deep pockets + threats are usually enough to achieve the purpose for big corporates, right or wrong.

Not really if you know how to fight them. Register a limited company costs $140, nominee directors and address costs $150/ year, sitting back and watching AOL spin their wheels and not be able to collect any damages even if they win, priceless. :D

Its not much different than Paypal Sucks
