In time of war, the keeping of prisoners of war is a clear necessity. I think the main concern is that their right to contest their imprisonment is being preserved.

d16man, that should be obvious. You wouldn't want to violate the rights of terrorists or criminals.

they are not part of a formed state militia, they are enemy combatants...therefore none of the rules and laws set forth by the geneva convention apply...what do you do then? Let them go so they can blow us up? or hold them infinitely while trying to figure out how to try them?

I never contested the right of the government to hold wartime prisoners. I am merely asserting that it is a basic right to contest such imprisonment.

The amount of confessions all of a sudden coming out of Gitmo I think that within the next couple of months we'll find people confessing to every single crime of the last 100 years.

another pointless post...this was your 2,000th right? People are confessing because they see the benefits of not confessing...regardless they are going to be there a while...I'm glad we caught them and that they are confessing...more proof we are winning the war on terror...

False confessions are the second leading reason for improper convictions and imprisonment. Most false confessions are given after less than 48 hours of interrogation time and usually in the range of 4-12 hours.

I wonder how easy it would be to obtain a false confession if the person being interrogated had no protection from the Articles of the Geneva Convention and a few tireless years? Of course most dumb ass cops need less than 48 hours to do what the government needed years to force out.......

Your skills in common sense are not exactly sharpened are they?

Yes you are right, 3 years is greater than 48 hours.

I guess since the interrogation/imprisonment time was greater than 48hours by many years this theory is shot right???

There certainly are not buddy, he posts such utter twaddle he barely even reads what he is posting these days. :p

    LOL that's a joke right?

Surprised we haven't heard some crap from you on the 4 year anniversary of this disastrous war on terror mate.

Your bum chum is even asking for patience, "US President George W Bush has said the US-led security push in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, will take "months, not days or weeks" to show results."

More disaster, more deaths in an unwinnable war from a failure of a President.

I was waiting on you to post something about that comment....now let me correct you...the war on terror is almost 6 years old.. the war in iraq just had its 4th year anniversary though...and yes, democracy does take time and patience...just look how long it took for us to beat your country back in the 1700's....I do believe the first people arrived in the early 1600's, and a govt wasn't set up till the late 1700's....its takes time a patience, something liberal idiots don't have...they want results NOW!!

Too bad that they don't have anybody who is old enough to confess to Kennedy murder. Can you imagine the propaganda value of Bush claiming that he has arrested the Kennedy murderer. :D

I don't know if this guy is guilty of what he has confessed to or not but government actions has guaranteed that all these confessions and eventual kangaroo courts are worthless in the court of world's public opinion.

lol....it sure is interesting how everything gets blamed on bush....except for when something good happens, like the recent tax cuts that has brought the US govt more revenue than ever before (surely that was clinton's doing, right?).

Well now if we stop spending that revenue so quickly, and get back in the black before he leaves office, he will be remembered less harshly.

Remember, the key to a balanced budget is not how much money you make, the key is to spend no more than you make. And the key to getting out of debt is to assign a large portion of your spending money (which is no more than you make) to paying off your debt.

I'd take the blame for other terrorist attacks too. That way they might just kill me on the spot rather than let me rot in a cell.

Didn't take long for those who defend every action of every terrorist to respond. You know they are sitting in their jail cells getting a kick out of it too! Probably saying something like "can't a mujahadeen brother get some damn credit? I mean we confess to our allah pleasing actions and some nitwit on DP Forums is still trying to protect us and deny us our credit! These looney Westerners just don't understand..."
