After changing things up from 1 ad to many (4, but I'll probably make more) with varied keywords, I have seen my rankings soar. I am now #1 for almost all of my keywords, and #4 for the main one. I was barely in the index a week ago, but MSN and Yahoo were loving me. Now I'm top in all three! Yay! Thank you coop ad network! (Read: Thanks Shawn and all the volunteers that make it happen). Practical advice: Don't use one single ad with your keyword phrase. Use many with varied keywords and you'll see your rankings increase. I think I was actualy getting penalized becuase Google saw my one ad on a bunch of sites and lowered the weight it gave to the link?
Just curious...how much weight do you distribute to each of the 4 ad's to be successful? How much weight did you have pointing toward just the one ad? Thanks
I don't get it. In other threads I read about how important it is to focus on only one, max two keywords, and to use these - and only these - in anchor text. This seems to collide with your hypothesis, if I understand you correctly If you're serious about this I strongly suggest a new thread devoted to testing these two opposing theories... Anyone interested? At this point I can't participate for practical reasons
Extrapolate it out White Power Widgets Green Power Widgets Blue Power Widgets Power Widgets for Sale Discount Power Widgets A linking strategy built around anchors with text like the above will get you ranked for Power Widgets as well as all your sub phrases. Take full advantage of the number of links we're allowed to have. Vary your qualifiers (cheap, discount, sale, blue, green, men's, women's, best, etc) but keep your main words present. This will give you variety but also show a theme.
