1) What is the difference between the html and javascript links? Is it just a personal preference, or are there reasons to choose one over the other? 2) This is where I am really confused. I will briefly tell about my site, and what I'm looking to do. My sites revolve around older classic cars and hot rods, and there are a few great auto parts companies in CJ. However, the banners CJ has to offer advertise newer cars, and nothing about classic or older hard to find parts for older cars (which these sites clearly do carry). I have pages dedicated to each model and their parts on my site, and I would love to have a banner or some kind of text link to the actual section of the affiliates website for that model. An example would be on my Ford Torino parts page, that link or banner would go to the Ford Torino section of the website of the affiliate. How is this done, or do I have to keep the exact code given to me from CJ intact? Do I have more flexibility with textual ads? Can I create my own banners and have them ok'd by the affiliate? I'm confused....? I should also say that there are 2 affiliates I am interested with working with, one has lots of products in CJ to promote, but I think the better affiliate does not. That's where question #2 comes in, how can I target those details better.
I just read this in the "getting Started" section of CJ Maybe I should talk with the affiliate managers with my questions? Have others dealt with affiliate mgrs, and are they really that helpful?
If you have a merchant that you want to use alot of it is very important no matter what network you are working with to try your hardest to build a relationship with the manager.... and yes they are helpful. And I think the html and javascript are personal choices I always used html never even clicked on the other one? thats me. I am not to savvy in the differences so I keep it simple and with what I know. I hope this helps a little bit...
Thanks for the tip jodyq I have been playing around with options in CJ with the affiliates, and I have finally found how to do what I want. This looks like it will take a lot of work, but should pay off well. Unfortunately I am now going out of town for 2 weeks so I won't be starting it yet, but at least I know how. I will keep in mind that the affiliate mgr's can be your friend.
The AM is all about making you productive in selling as they are commission based as well. I make a point to send an email to each one I do business with on a weekly basis so they are aware of me and ask advice from them all the time. You would be amazed what they will allow you to do. I change banner sizes, alter the text ads... all kinds of unique things and I get the blessing of the AM's all the time. Stay in touch with those guys and you'll get free professional advice.
Hey, Get in touch with your AM of each program/company you are promoting. They usually list their email on the "advertiser details" page.
Thanks BuxP, good information. Some of the advertisers send me emails all the time. They have been very helpful. I was wrongly assuming that people were talking about an AM from CJ.
