AC, payslows is going to catch up with you on posts! His average is over 24 per day and yours is only 20!!! Pluse his rating score is probably almost as negative as yours!! I know - I now have posted an absolutely useless post, but I bet some will find it interesting and start looking at how many post per day people average.
I am shaking in my shoes like Elvis did Debunked, I really don't focus on "post counts" like some of you do and could not care less if someone passes me. If Shawn wants to take the post count meter off of my posts that would be fine with me Shawn is the leading poster on Digital Point for everyone's information
LOL Time for some smileys edit: I just saw what the smileys were doing, I didn't mean to do that but saw it after I posted - I was just putting a couple of smileys on the page! Really!
Riddle me this Batman... Why are we suggesting illegal or otherwise additional unethical behavior to combat someone's violation of a TOS of a company none of us own (unless you bought stock). Perhaps a simple email to Google is all that is needed. I am sure Google can handle their own TOS enforcement. Suggesting spoofing an email address is not only unethical, but in doing it, you set yourself up for a whole other set of legal problems if Google wanted to pursue it. Forging another companies identity to scare someone is just as bad, if not worse than the TOS violation. I would guess it is likely worse, given a violation of Google's TOS is hardly something that is criminal. Forging someone's or some company's identity is.
Mia, this is a 13 year old kid and I am sure that Google will forgive this They will not do a thing as it would result in negative publicity and a waste of time, plus Josh is just a kid and is still learning, Google would and will understand
It's statements like this that make me think that there are in fact just a lot of STUPID people out there. There are probably many times very innocent idiots out there that simply believe that they are doing nothing wrong from the get go. Why? Well for one, no one reads the TOS. Next, it is not like there is an interview process with Google, or a review of the TOS and then a quiz. Many people think that this is the thing to do. ie., encourage clicks for the sake of supporting themselves and Google. That is not the purpose of AdSense. Again, there are just a lot of stupid people out there. Let me change that. There are just a lot of IGNORANT people out there. Anyway, it is ignorance like this that will ruin it for all if it continues. I guess Google should make applying for Adsense as absolutely archaic and difficult as it is to get a Froogle Ap and ultimately feed approved.
PLEASE READ POST # 154 over and over Google is not stupid to go after a 13 year old kid on something this silly, OK guys
I know he is a 13 year old kid. And as you have so eloquently pointed out i the past, a smart one (I agree). But as a parent myself, and as a responsible adult, it's not a bad thing to re-enforce good behavior. This includes pointing out something that is wrong. So what you are saying is, because someone is 13 we should excuse their behavior? I firmly disagree. I think we should all do what we can to explain why something is wrong in the hopes that at "13" he learns from that. Everyone here has an influence on Josh, some good and some no so good. Remember when we were 13, it's an impressionable age. Your'e right "Josh is just a kid and he is still learning." Let's hope learns the differences between what is right/wrong as it concerns things like this. That's not a bad thing you know.
Everything will be alright, we are all doing our best to help here, Josh will be OK and will harness all that energy he has in a positive direction, that I am sure of and the members should remember that he is but 13. Even though he is more advanced as a coder than 95% of us here that does not mean we should think he knows and understands everything about business, the law of the land and life
let me suggest something that i bet no one expected. kill this thread (as in shawn permanently deletes it). and josh either does nothing or emails the guy about the lesson he taught him (up to josh)
Would be the sure thing to do if there were trouble coming, but as I mention I don't think (or would not bet) that Google would go after a kid for something like this.
When was a lesson taught? His adsense account was disabled long ago and I doubt he even cares about the other points. It was funny...It lasted a few minutes...now its over. I love how people (not you dev) try to Monday morning preach. As anthony said, Google doesn't care so neither should we.
well, i have not seen josh in this thread lately. i hope he does not feel too bad about all this. and killing the thread will make sure that a) it's come to some resolution and b) this thread does not gets indexed and cached any further.
