Yeah - that is funny. But the disgruntled owners have got a point. The name was regged way before G came up with Adsense.

    adsense.com Created on..............: 1997-Feb-23.
    adsense2.com Created on: 12-Oct-04

If they really were in business since 1995, under what domain?
Did they let it expire, and Google snapped it up?

And I see no copyright notices... I'm sure Google's legal team researched the name.

Few months ago now I knew it sold, but was unaware to who.

Looks like G purchased it, or a 3rd party purchased it, and sold it to G.

Maybe they were bought but not for millions.
If I owned adsense.com and someone, (posing as a private buyer), offered me $xxx.xx I probably would sell thinking they were a bit crazy.

But if I then found it that Google had bought the site and knowing that it was in fact worts $xxxxxx.xx, I would also be a bit bitter, but unable to sue.

It occured to me last night that they may have been a local advertising agency in 1995, but did not get on the web right away.

If they were only locally known, Google possibly may have been unaware of them when they registered the domain in 1997.

Even if they were aware, I think trademark law would favor Google if the company were only local...
