PPTP provides a secure 128bit encrypted connection from a client computer to the VPN server. Then you are under VPN you can safe and anonymous browsing the web, download torrents, use resticted or blocked in your country services (VOIP, p2p ... etc) like american or canadian internet user (it depends what vpn server you will use).
