    Hello,
I have these annoying spiders(possibly not spiders)i get at least 10 of them daily with different ips and emails when they register
they register and post 1 thread that links to some adult stuff
    and they leave
    it gets annoying
i have to clean up on after them everyday!
what can i do to prevent this? :(

Use CAPTCHA they will be unable to register if those spammers use bots to register on your forum.

Hmm, also you can try using some mods depending on the forum software you use. You can often limit new users' link-posting ability. For example an account with fewer than 10 posts or not older than 10 days... etc etc.

I think that will be a better solution than banning IPs.

    Good luck! :)

Install some captcha or "are you human" tests.

What forum software are you using? If it's phpbb or vbulletin, there'll be tons of them.

If it's bbpress, you can connect to the wp-akismet database to make/delete things.

I had faced the same kind of problem in one of my forum in which i was using phpbb & even after enabling human verification the spammers suceeded to enter again with all these spam..... again n again... then i just deleted their a/c .... then also they do it... they just do for sometime & leave.... so i think u should give some mod rights to ur members as u cant keep on controlling the spam alone.... for reducing this menace u can keep on banning those IP's & deleting the USER's on their very first post... & dont allow to use porn/obscene names as usernames by blacklisting themm....

it is really annoying, but there is no real way to stop those users, they will always come back with different ips and names, sometimes they are paid just to post porn stuff on forums. the only thing you could do is not to allow user names created with those words or simply block those words from the forum.
