This will be a real re-introduction of affiliates as Google will innovate with this and the affiliate marketers will be given more leverage to do business

It will be active in August! Just one question, would you change your referral ads now or wait till August?

    Update

Google is dumping Adsense Referal Program.....:(

All of the Affiliate Networks now have a new competitor and funny thing is in the Google Affiliate Network you can use trademarked materials .

Here is the first offer they are running!!
Now that is completely different and I am sure some time in the future reason for a new lawsuit lol....

Google rocks the boat once more!!!

    :D

this is so interesting. I guess this is to narrow it down for different types of sites. I hear many sites were not making much from the refurral ads.

Well with most networks and I feel pretty certain it's true with GAN, the merchant is the one
that's sets the terms. Some allow trademark bidding and many don't. So I don't think it's wise
to tell people trademark bidding is wide open on this network. Pretty sure the big brands listed below don't allow it.

Also for people who don’t know, that's not "the first offer they are running."
Prior to the name change Monday, DoubleClick Performics already had hundreds of large and small affiliate programs.

Here are a few of the big names: Barnes & Noble, Bose, Circuit City, Citi Cards, Kohls, Sears, Target, Verizon.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Yes, doubleclick fits nicely with google. Mother Jones says "Google already knows more about you than the National Security Agency ever will".

Search that phrase (use google for search ACCURACY) and read that article.

Google has a long way to go to compete with CJ and Linkshare for affiliate's attention. Performics was a closed affiliate network for years and only recently became transparent. CJ is still where its at for merchants and affiliates IMO. I should know I manage several large CJ programs for 7 years. With Google's usually poor customer service I hope they put a huge team on this project.

I dont understand the excitement. I will wait for first reviews before i consider joining them. Sure it sounds interesting, but imo many here jump on it just because of the oh so big name: Google.

In 2003 I jumped in on the Adsense thing Google announced they were doing where they offered to pay publishers of websites to display ads on their sites.

If I am not mistaken it was a lucrative move on my part ;)

Now why would I want to hop on the tail of a company built to make me money???

    Can't imagine

    $$$$$$$$$$$$

    Still no clue.....

Both of these are correct links. dinarpw's link leads to the main page from google and 5starAffiliates's link leads directly to join the main program. On right hand side on Google's page there is a sing-in button that is linked to connectcommerce.

Thanks for the heads up guys!

I think this is crap. All the people who promoted programs in their referrals network or adsense have to remove the code and join this program and replace the old code. I won't be promoting google anymore, they suck anyways.

Several CJ clients already went over to Performics, providing me with notice that if I wanted to continue with them that I had to join Performics. I'm going to be Switzerland.

I see merchant joining both CJ and Google Affiliate Network, I don't it needs to be a one or the other issue. I think for the affiliate where ever the links convert best....we shall see.
