I would work on the header a bit, maybe some fun colors and graphics as well as a nice font would work better? I think the site's topic is pretty fcun (birthdays) so there's no neat to use a corporate layout design on this site ;)

    I totally agree with 8everything.
Plus, I saw that you use a CSS to design your site and XHTML 1.1.
With such a simple design, I'd use XHTML 1.0 strict and would avoid the tables (<table>) : use <div> and manage all the layout within your CSS.
It will result in a greater accessibility and better layout.
Also, don't make it 100% of the page horizontally, center it and make it, let's say 600/700 px

    Good luck

    The site is really nice.....
    But I feel it's a bit empty.

I like it overall but think it needs more especially in the bottom left side.

Some ideas, hope you find them useful. I would change the gray footer, which gives it kind of a corporate look, as someone said before, for orange or maybe pink, to make it vibrant, or even for the same light blue you have on your header. And for the content area I would use a white background, with again, orange or pink headlines.

Nice job. HEre are a few comments I have.

    - Irrespective of which page you are in, i see that 'HOme' is always hilited. It would be nice if you can hilite the particular section on the menu corresponding to the page
    - On the 'submit birthday' page, the text boxes aren't aligned. I guess you are not using tables - try to use tables and align the fields
    - The 2nd horizontal bar at the top is nice, but I think you can rather put a horizantal navigation menu there (rather than the vertical menu to the left). Just a suggestion.
    - In the 'Birthday announcement' when I simply submit without any info it gives the error. It would be better if you can redisplay the form along with the error message, rather than the user needing to go back to fix the problem.

I agree that your header needs some work and don't forget it should remain consistent throughout your site. I noticed you have different fonts on different pages within the header.

nice idea of a site, there a few other sites out there doing the same so you will need to take your site up a few level via a new logo to brand your image.but keep up the good work.

    Simple and nice!
    Erm, few comments: :)
    - Myself I wouldn't put this on that place at the homepage, rather outline it with the text, makes it look a bit more professional :)
    - Add some links in the menu bar you designed! lol
    - The header is cool, but I'ld at least put an extra image to it... maybe that hat image with the right background?

Hope this helps you a bit :)
