Are you serious? That is interesting. Good post jackswift. I agree 100%. That is why I was kinda cold at first, because we've got all these Iraqis and U.S troops dying daily, and a lot of people don't care...........but as Stalin once said, a single death is a tragedy, but a million deaths are a statistic. The Iraqis and U.S. troops were murdered, and did not essentially wish to take their own lives. Of course I don't know all the details of how Smith died, but given her age, it must have possibly been a result of her own actions.

To put it in perspective, this is a thread about Anna Nicole Smith's death. I've never understood the need to diminish someone person's death by comparing to others. I, for one, have strong views on the deaths as a result of this war, and have said so on other threads. This is one death, one child, one story.
I actually liked her as a person from what I've known of her - even though I never found her physically attractive. She had a real bubbly personality. These types of people can easily light up a room. I just like these types of people. That said I don't feel sorry for her. That's life. People die. She had her moments of happiness and sadness through out her life just like everyone else.
I understand. It is nuts. But this is how we find out about it. I do think that deaths like this bring us to think on things...her death, Cobain, Christopher Reeve, a million others. I know it's facile. I once wrote a short story...a part of it, from a misty memory: "once, looking out the window and seeing the world's misery, he assumed a certain joy - he was above it all. Now, seeing the sadness only confirmed his own despair." -forgive any bad prose. But I think this is where I am, why these things hit me. As I said, she was someone's kid and needed love, as do we all.
Thanks Crazy Rob. You answered northpointaiki's question. It is annoying, because the rest of us would barely make the nightly news if we died...but I guess that is just how fame and fortune work in this society.
Anna Nicole Smith Collapses, Dies at 39 Feb 8, 4:50 PM EST The Associated Press HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- Anna Nicole Smith, the pneumatic blonde whose life played out as an extraordinary tabloid tale — jeans model, Playboy centerfold, widow of an octogenarian billionaire, reality-show subject, tragic mother — died Thursday after collapsing at a hotel. She was 39. She was stricken while staying at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and was rushed to a hospital. Edwina Johnson, chief investigator of the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office, said the cause of death was under investigation and an autopsy would be done on Friday. Just five months ago, Smith's 20-year-old son died suddenly in the Bahamas in what was believed to be a drug-related death.
Apparently she keeled over in a hotel lobby or something. I saw her in a Hong Kong mall once and was nearly crushed in the stampede of spotty youth trying to get a glimpse of her boobs. RIP, Anna.
She looked pretty amazing for a 39 year old! It's a shame that her life had to end in tragedy - I actually held out hope that her life might have gotten better. Cindy
First of all, Tesla, who pissed in your Wheaties this morning? Wow...have some compassion... I got to meet Anna during her zenith. She was filming a nude beach scene at Leo Carrillo state beach in California in the mid '90's. Boy she was really pretty. I said something lame to her as she was walking back to her trailer in a skimpy robe That was a pretty cool day... I'll miss her. She was exactly what a celebrity is supposed to be, pretty to the eye, the life of the party, and entertaining. Her life was a tragedy. She is the nouveau Marilyn Monroe.
She was advocating some diet drug.. Lost 69 pounds with it.. Maybe if you mix diet drugs with party drugs and excessive amounts of alcohol it can be bad for you?
