AnimeOmnitude : Joomla vs. Drupal vs. Subdreamer

    I own http://www.animeomnitude.com

I want to make my site active and lively again. However to make this as easy and possible I think that I will need to use a CMS rather than editing everything manually like I have been doing for the past 5 years.

Please take a look at my current site and look at the pages and forum

What would you recommend for me to use out of the CMS (or any other cms)?

Primarily I want something that won't be visually to different to what I have now in terms of content creation.

Another question is how can I redirect my current content to their new locations on the new cms sitwe without losing my search ranks etc.

    I appreciate all comments!

i would advise to use Drupal. Drupal can simulate every url for every content page, you might have issues with the get parameter in your url, but that can be taken care of by some modrewrite and a 301.
thats no problem. you could even redirect all of your pages with a .htaccess by hand.

Yea I've no problem with new urls. Ideally I'd want no parameters and just want them to be more SE friendly.
How do you mean simulate every content page also how can Drupal work with Invision?

I'm assuming by your original post that your site is static (i.e., consisting of hand-edited HTML files).

Your situation is very common, actually. Pre-established sites of course are the hardest to migrate, and you have lots of content.

You have a considerable amount of linkage, and for your case, you're going to want to carefully research using the search phrase "convert static html site". Don't jump into any CMS too quickly, as you want the path of least resistance that also provides a strong platform and facilitates future growth.

Based on your needs, though, I am very tempted to tell you to put WordPress (probably the Multiuser version) in your Top 3 list of CMS platforms to evaluate. Migrating static HTML sites appears to be one of WordPress' strengths. Here for example is a link to an article describing how to do it:
    http://www.cybercoded.net/convert-static-html-site-to-wordpress-easily/

Here is a nice fat Google link:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...vert+static+html+to+wordpress&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g1

In fact, some Joomla 1.0 site owners, who really didn't want to deal with the hassle of migrating to Joomla 1.5 (as this would be a long process for anyone with a complex site) actually migrated to WordPress. WP is a very strong platform and, though its centralized user functions are quite up to traditional CMS specs, it is definitely headed in that direction. WP classic and WP Multiuser are merging into one project, and there are people using WP as a CMS. I posted about this on other threads.

I see you listed Drupal, Joomla and Subdreamer as your three options. I'd say search for migration information on all of these as well and see what you come up with.

In the end, there is no "right answer", just what's right for your site. I'm saying this as a long-time Joomla user. ;)

I have been using Drupal for some time and while Drupal would be able to do what you need I think, Wordpress would be a lot easier to get up and running. It would take you a lot more time to get the same functionality out of drupal. Also, I don't think Invision board would work too well with drupal. I think there would be issues with handling users profiles etc. There could be some module is drupal that integrates Invision board with drupal (I haven't checked I know there were modules for phpbb and vb) but, I would not suggest using those (security threats and module upgrades). So, you woud probably have to migrate your forum to drupal http://drupal.org/node/28109 .
